Revisiting an old story

Looming rice crisis reminded me of a classic college joke about a poor man’s dream of his son earning a college degree. The old man sacrificed everything in order for his son to succeed in life. The story line is of bountiful rice and nothing else.
Today parang nabaliktad. There’s plenty of kalabao meat, daing bangus but short on rice? When I heard the joke it corrupted the innocence of my youth. I thought I’ll die laughing. Life hasn’t been the same since then.
The story begins with the son going home to the province to spend his first summer vacation. On their first lunch, son noticed there are only 2 plates of rice and nothing else. Son inquired then expressed discontent when father explained why. Those familiar with the story might want a revisit. Unfortunately, for those who have yet to hear it, you won’t see it printed here! Sorry na lang magtanong na lang kayo.
Did you hear we are a recipient of a novel peace prize for ending the reign of pancit bihon? This will now be substituted with a brilliant innovation called – “veggie noodle”!!!
