Undersecretary/Head PASG

Mr. Undersecretary:

When Arroyo put you where you’re now, she’s got only one thing in mind . . . to have a watchdog at the Bureau of Customs where the most rotten, the most profligate of creatures lurks.

You were put there to show, that with the crookery happening in her watch, a semblance of honesty still exists and to justify such move, she will have to find someone whose character is unblemished by the whirlpool of deceit, which is a symbol of the Arroyo administration.

And that someone is you. I hate to say this, sir; you are the cork to plug the hole to decelerate the flow. At least for now, Arroyo could claim the fruits of your work which is beyond doubt a great service to the country.

With demands for your resignation, we urge you to stand fast. Arroyo could not afford to let you go with all the collateral damage affected in your crusade – to weed out the corruption . . . the impurities . . . in your department.

Never mind the toes you step on. Never mind the disgruntled. Never mind those lapdogs of Arroyo. You’ll have to go on whatever the cost maybe. Lesser than that, is a disservice to the Filipino people.

I would like you to know, too, Pangasinan is proud of you.

Sincerely yours,
Eduardo Pontaoe
