Mr. Oriel,

My post about meekness was not a sermon.

You frequently cite the bible in your arguments. You take the literal meaning of the words you read. You are entitled to believe in what you want to believe in. The problem is, when people disagree with you, you get into your rants that one poster called wishy-washy. I regret to inform you that I happen to agree with that individual.

I think most people in the Forum would rather use common sense.

I don’t profess to be as knowledgeable about the bible as you are but let me throw in a couple of passages and I ask you to you reconcile them with common sense.

1. Luke 6:29-30  Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer to him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. Give everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.

2. Leviticus 24:19-20  If anyone injures his neighbor, whatever he has done must be done to him: fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As he has injured the other, so he is to be injured.

As you can see, these contradict each other. The MEEK Filipino is so easily cowed to submission and so spiritless he is just taking all the screwing that is being done to him by his government officials.
