In denial mode

I believe there are people who know how to read but refuse to understand what they are reading or shall we say they are always in denial mode like GMA.
If it is true that Taiwan has more problems than the Philippines, then why is Taiwan ranked 6 of 30 in terms of regional economic freedom? Globally Taiwan is ranked 25 out of 157 and the Philippines is 92.
I believe the problems cannot be solved or anyone can contribute to the betterment if we keep on denying the problems.
