Mr. Raffy Oriel:

Welcome back! Thought at first you’re gone for good while immersing yourself completely with your FBP (For Better Philippines) Forum and OFW friends from the Emirates to the wild desert kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

You got me clobbered and bewildered when you appeared like a ghost from nowhere. Correct me if I am wrong, with those OFW friends of yours, whom you solicited to participate in the Punch Forum, but turned you down. Is it because they’re incapable to play the game of Mephisto? Or, don’t have fires in their bellies. I wonder.

Allow me to address your curiosity one bite at a time.

On Maxine Waters. . . . This member of the House, like I said, is one of the most tainted with her violation of the House Code of Ethics, House Rule 23 Clause 1, which states: Member, Delegate, Resident Commissioner, employee of the House, shall conduct himself/herself at all times in a manner that shall reflect credibility on the House.

The Los Angeles Times’ 12-19-2004 Sunday Edition headlined this breach of trust in its – Capitalizing on Clout. Read it!

Her overwhelming election in her 9th term is due to the fact, that the 35th District is predominantly black. What will you expect Mr. Oriel? It’s South Los Angeles! How come 80 members sponsored the Act? You forgot these are liberal Democrats and conduct themselves along party lines.

Your problem is, you live in Canada. There are 435 members of the House – 2 seats are vacant – you need 75% to pass which you need 324 votes. Eighty votes wouldn’t make the Republicans jump in their seats.

In the Senate, you need 60 votes to muster. With only 51 votes and the Republicans circling their wagons, Harry Reid, the weakling, couldn’t make ends meet.

Bluntly, Mr. Oriel, my time is not wasted in the Forum especially where America is involved. If the tax dollars of this country are engaged, you bet I bother myself with it. Surprisingly, how about you? You poke your nose in America’s affairs, notwithstanding you’re not paying your taxes and living here.

Did you hear me critique you in your FBP Forum even though I know pretty damn well, the money you’re donating is spent in the Visayas, Bicol and Tondo as well, not even a single centavo for the poor in Pangasinan.

On Junior de Venecia . . . What’s the purpose in advocating such irresponsible idea? Since 1996, more than $80 billion dollars were written off to the HIPC (Heavy Indebted Poor Countries) of 30 countries which the Philippines are not included. This move by the young de Venecia, was a follow-up on another venue when Señor de Venecia petitioned the World Bank, that all loans should be downgraded to grants freeing everybody from their obligations. The WB did not entertain such ruse.

By the way, are you acquainted with Junior’s Multi-Media Telephony Inc. besides Amsterdam Holdings Inc.? If not, you’re too far out in the universe.
