What’s the big deal?

Mr. Isidro Ramos,
Does it matter if we buy our goods with a few dollars or a bagful?
I remember getting paid only 50 during the 70’s but could buy a Toyota Celica for 4,000. Now considering the same rank of our armed forces that I had then are getting paid thousands and car being 20 to 30 thousand.
In my month stay in Bonuan Dagupan, I checked on land prices along the national highway reaching up to 7,000 per sq meter and what it was in the 70’s when it was only 50 per sq meter.
I also checked on the salaries almost parallel the same we experience here, they also went up.
So I wonder what the big deal is all about. I know I am being simplistic on the subject but I just do not get it.
