No more “keeping up with the Joneses”

Mr. Oriel,

I’m glad you agree with my little analogy that this Bozo who dreamed of this palatial bathroom with a ten grand budget had no sense when it came to budgeting or realizing his impossible dream.

But I’m afraid you missed out on my parallels with the NAIA terminal 3. Ms. Jara’s column, and correct me if I’m wrong, is about this too familiar promises or goals that your favorite president never misses out on.

Why dream of putting up an international airport in Alaminos when she can’t even dream of fixing up the roads to get there? There’s this portion of the highway in Urdaneta that is in dire need of repair three years ago when I was there and I just heard from someone who just got back last month that it’s still the same.

In fact this person says it’s worst now because drivers are using unpaved residential roads to get around. And this, more than anything, is what I’m livid about, the sea of promises and bottomless pit of money doled out to what purpose?

There comes a time, Mr. Oriel, when you have to say enough is enough. Just once I would like to hear a politician get up in public and say, we are not taking new projects this year, INSTEAD, we’ll COMPLETE all these unfinished projects littering the country.

I am simpleminded and I really just want simple things in life. Spare me the “keeping up with Jones'” mentality and empower me with the tools in life to provide for my family: food, shelter, medicine, education.
