Some politicians have two faces

By Gonzalo Duque

HOW do you find the bizarre murder of the Korean businessman at Camp Crame?

What’s your view of the gross payoffs involving commissioners at the Bureau of Immigration?

These are questions asked us by common people.

We know they have their own opinions, surely dismay, anger and condemnation against crimes committed by so-called public servants.

But they ask us just the same, maybe to get a feel of what an ardent supporter of President Duterte feels about these despicable things.

Our casual reaction is that these abominable happenings are collateral damage to the noble things the government is doing.

And so, as an incorrigible optimist, we consider these incidents to be golden opportunities for initiating further reforms and the need for stronger faith in good governance and the eventual triumph of good over evil. Cross your fingers!

Oh, yes, we, too, were shocked at the extent of inhuman acts can go, making us nauseated at a policeman with P 8,000 monthly salary amassing P15 million! Wow! Aghssh!!! Nakakabaliw! How did he do it with all the safety nets around?

Matindi ang kalaban, ika nga! kalaban? Eh, mga pulis at Immigration commissioners and kriminal eh!

Ok, we just say, don’t judge a book by its cover. Look beyond the surface.

O, yes, we know, the perpetrators of the crime in Camp Crame are General Bato’s boys!  But, mind you, the guy was also shocked. He was melting, he said!

How do we deal with these criminals?

We just remembered Alcatraz Island in the U.S. where callous criminals are jailed! We have that in mind, too, for these seemingly incorrigible criminals.

But with an amendment… since we adhere to the axiom, “hope springs eternal,” we don’t just want the locos to be dumped in hell. They should be rehabilitated in any way. That’s the Christian way.

In the immediate, we agree with the move that such cases be handled by the military which has the discipline; not the police.

We’ve received reports about certain public servants having two faces.

When it’s safe, they mouth words of support to the person they are professing loyalty.

When he is not looking, they are like the Fastest Gun alive destroying him.

What shall we do with these animals?

A friend offered this advice: Just warn them about a fatal tornado that could crash them to kingdom come!

That proposed septic tank ordinance in the SP should be passed, pronto! In the name of cleanliness being next to Godliness, let’s have it passed!!!

Oh, yes, out there in Barangay Pantal, a balikbayan nonchalantly twitted residents near the river to observe cleanliness at all times.  We told him Mayor Belen has dealt with the problem with aplomb and dispatch. Pinaalis na sila with an alternate housing program in Barangay Bonuan.

Ok, sirin!
