Playing with Fire
Hello, Dagupan Jayceekens?
By Gonzalo Duque
WE sympathize with our favorite cumpadre Guv’nor Spines in connection with the Ombudsman cases filed against him.
Whether political or not, the case must be hurting him. We could feel his pain.
Some say the accusers felt the venom of his State of the Province Address which was full of stellar accomplishments.
We sincerely hope he’d be able to acquit himself soon with aplomb.
You see, public service has its vagaries. One day you are up in the stars, the next day you get struck on the muck.
Talagang ganyan ang nasa pader.
And you have no business being a softie. You must face the music like a man.
In Spines’ case, we could see the unseen hand.
Relax lang, Guv’nor, we know you’ll come out again a better man after this.

How about our best bet for President, Rody Duterte?
He’s slated to be with his Pangasinan fans on March 2.
He is gaining ground. Tabla na sila ni Grace Poe sa SWS. We don’t usually believe the surveys, but nandiyan na e.
Jojo Binay is still on top with 29% (from 31%). Duterte has zoomed from 20 to 24 at par with Poe 24-24.
How about Mar Roxas? Mas mababa sa tatlo, but the score escaped us.

The words of an Ateneo priest, Fr. Barcelona, a good friend of Duterte, inspires.
He wrote recently in his Manila Bulletin column: “Duterte says many crazy things, but he gets things done.”
Ok ngarud!

Sorry, fans of boxing icon Manny Pacquiao who behaved like a buffoon regarding same-sex marriage. He was invoking his being a Christian, nadale tuloy.
He was biting more than he can chew.
Sayang. Malaking boto ang maawala la niyan.
Buti nga.
Let’s be clear about this. As a boxer, idolo natin. But as a public official, hindi ata bagay ang senado.

In Dagupan, our Jaycee-friend Chito Samson has been saying many nasty things against Mayor Belen Fernandez in his facebook.
He forgets that Belen was their UL graduate and a recipient of a doctorate there.
Chito is a high official of that university.
Sana man lang, nag-magandang loob sa kanilang alumna.
Stick to issues, Pare Chito.
Baka maparis ka kay Manny Pacquiao, ikaw rin.
