WHO will top the presidential race in Pangasinan?
We refer you to a Northern Luzon paper’s poll in Ilocandia, which sampled more than 700 in the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.
Grace Poe is No. 1, with Binay and Duterte in statistical tie for 2nd place. Mar Roxas is third, but not distant from the second placers, Miriam, last.
We told Oca Orbos who is backing Poe that had there been no disqualification issue against her, she might have scored a homerun
What’s this persistent talk that Grace would eventually be allowed by the Comelec to run? The grapevine says Palasyo might have done a coup for her with an assurance that she wouldn’t make things bad for P-noy when she becomes his successor.

The Martinez clan – our maternal family – will have its biennial reunion at Pedrito’s today, with the Martinez-Canlas family hosting.
We already wrote about the “miraculous” love story of our grandpa, Felix Martinez and grandma, the former Maria Pilar Montero, both deceased, who had identical birthdays – same day, same month, same year. They are now in the Great Beyond.
The other thriller is that their names appear one after the other in the church’s registry.
Some of our friends in the movie industry have offered to make a movie of their love story.
But most of our cousins would rather keep it less public. They were born on October 12, 1901. Their marriage produced nine children – Nieves who became Mrs. Canlas; Juanita who became Mrs. Rabago; Orlando and Paz who became Mrs. Llamas (who are all deceased); our beloved Nanay Aurora who is now 88; Guillermo, 85, who is still around; Alodea Dy, the woman behind Mang Peping Restaurant; Celerina, now a Mrs. Dacumos who lives in California; and Estrella (the youngest), a Christian leader.
We doff our hat to cousin-in-law Joe Delfin, a native of Capiz and loving husband of Cousin Cecilia, who has several scholars incognito.
He makes the Martinez clan proud.

Congratulate the local Muslims under Guia Macmod who are being united by a service-oriented leadership.
In a conference in Manila recently, Secretary Yasmin Busnan Lao of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos gave her imprimatur to Macmod’s authority to lead the locals in the province, which should help guide Governor Amado T. Espino in working out a functional relationship with 60,000 Muslims here.
First agenda, we suggest, is to draw up a livelihood blueprint to keep them away from the underground economy including illegal drugs.
Aside from the provincial government, leaders with business acumen like former Speaker JDV, Stradcom chair Cesar T. Quiambao, former Rep. Mark Cojuangco and Sendong So should help.

NOTES: Even if the 4th congressional district is considered a non-contest zone, youthful candidate Christopher “Toff” De Venecia held a presscon yesterday, a getting-to-know you affair.
He’d just squeeze from his constituents and the media what they consider are priority concerns. Wise move……..
The street towards Mayor Noel Nacar’s house has cracks needing immediate repair. When told about it, the Municipal Mayors’ League president says “nasa huli sa priority ko ang para sa akin, unahin muna ang bayan.”
His mayoral candidate daughter Nadine should carry on that legacy.
