Why is Rody Duterte popular?

AT the rate presidentiable Rody Duterte is being bludgeoned and blackened by Human Rights groups left and right, he may yet become a national hero for being “crazy” in eliminating drug lords and hard-core criminals from Philippine society.

The enemy or enemies are hiding behind attractive covers—“human rights,” “due process,” and so-called social justice.

But the hoi polio or common tao do not care about these things. What they care about is if they are safe where they live. What they care about is the presence of peace and order in their place of abode.

Most Pinoys know that Duterte’s shocking rhetoric blaspheming on human rights issues is intended to shock the timid, the fence sitters, the smug, the cynic, and the like.

We should not be stampeded into associating these things with the blood-thirsty. Far from it, he is the protector of the weak, children and women from violent elements. Ask majority of Davaoenos. They want more of his kind.

Curiously, we find this Davao toughie who has endeared our Gonzalo Duque no end is that he has become a guru of advertising without spending a cent.

It is undeniable that Duterte is now the Philippines’ new folk hero. Maybe next to the Great Plebeian Andres Bonifacio or our national hero himself Dr. Jose Rizal, or, Ninoy Aquino?

Gonz the other day called up to say that the incessant attacks against his friend have boomeranged! It has stirred up millions to espouse the cause of the modern-day hero.

Those who are taking Duterte lightly are in for a surprise. The guy says he is not running for president.

That denial too could be a script which is working on the hoi polio to work harder to make him president.

Magaling ang Davaoeno.

Is it true that Eddie Maramba, Alfred Dawana and company who just staged a successful national fish congress are being yanked out from their Dagupan office by Mayor Belen Fernandez?

Bizarre! Instead of being rewarded for doing a successful national event fish congress, they are being shooed away.

The fault of MD (Maramba and Dawana) is that they were faithful and loyal to a fault in implementing the Mayor’s program to clean the city’s rivers.

We heard EM and AD are rumored to be BSL supporters. They say they are pro-Dagupan.

This is earth-shaking news.

A low-key inventor from Pozorrubio town, Engr. Jaime P. Imbat, has invented a system that will solve the looming power crisis worldwide.

In a courtesy call on Gov. Amado Espino Jr., Monday, James claims that he has designed a technology that would make use of consolidated waste organic materials to “energize all the world’s industries powered by coal”.

Users of energy power will reduce their consignation cost by 70% he said, wow!

What’s more, says James, accompanied by former National Media stalwart Mel Jovellanos and publisher Jun Galang, his invention emits no pollutant, unlike coal.

Coal is very expensive and environmentally destructive while JPL’s technology is unthinkably low and leaves out or emits no pollution whatsoever. Isn’t this heaven-sent?

We feel that a “tangay tangay” will soon be looked up to by the whole world as a new hero of our times.
