Safe, healthy water in Dagupan now real
By Gonzalo Duque
WE’RE glad.
While we were doing this column, two gentlemen surprised us with a visit, an engaging visit… we had to park our notes for a while.
It was the opportune time to say our heart’s piece about our frustration with Dagupan police Chief Chris Abrahano and, hmm…. LTO regional Director Jojo Guadiz, a fellow Bedan.
What’s our frustration?
You, dear reader, must have read about our items about the irritating, unhealthful, obnoxious noise pollution along the major streets in Barangay Tapuac.
First, we had a sort of a MOA, verbally though, with Jojo to put a stop the ear splitters that usually take place deep in the night.
OIC Chief Belli Tamayo who is a native of Calasiao gave the impression he’d do something about it.
Sana… sana… huag pamarisan ang mga mahina. Chief Abrahano, sorry, was a failure in this. Ma-promise lang pala.
Sana OIC Supt. Belli won’t promise a Rose Garden, huh?
When we presented our peeve to him (Belli), he sort of murmured “O I see.”
We really hope, this promising Calasiao hepe will be different, or will make a difference.

Allow us to take you to Barangay Carael, Dagupan this time.
First, we congratulate Mayor Belen Fernandez for acting fast and decisively on the Carael folk’s drinking water problem.
Of course, don’t forget our Water District, too, with Engr. Valle as chief action man.
It may intent you to know that the Carael folk have been languishing with unsafe drinking water for the last 30 years. This is now a thing of the past—thank you, Mayor Belen and DCWD! P4 million was appropriated for that project.
We wish to warn some Carael people who have no pangs of conscience for having their bottling business that’s not of high standards—thus endangering the people’s health.
Dr. Leonard Carbonell, city health officer, agrees with us on this.

The next barangay to benefit from the city’s twin action-packed operation (Mayor BTF and DCWD) for safe drinking water is Barangay Pugaro. Kapitan Ador Bancod is all fired up on this.
This one is a tough and top challenge because the barangay is fast emerging as a tourist barangay in the city.
The curiosity piece is how can it be a tourist barangay without the safest water in town?
So there—and salute our indefatigable mayor Belen for her non-stop, all work mantra. Ok ba?

Looks like our man Rody Duterte is Malacañang- bound.
He is all over the papers and other media outlets.
Read this excerpt from Neal Cruz’s column Friday: “How else can Duterte’s unexpected high rating be explained? The people like him because they are tired of criminals and corrupt public officials, and he talks tough against them. He threatens to kill them himself, although he claims he has not killed anyone yet. But criminals are dying in Davao. So who is doing the executions?”
Observing him closely, he has a pusong mamon.
Pero may bayag.
