Cooperation, the key to success

BEBOT VILLAR

UNIFIED efforts have always proven effective as shown again last May 20, 2015.

The Dagupan City PNP, PDEA RO1, elements from Pangasinan PPO, SAF and the Navy Intelligence again combined efforts in an operation that resulted in the seizure of around half a million worth of suspected shabu in Nueva, Barangay 2-3 in Dagupan City.

Ever since naman, “in unity, there is strength!” Such accomplishment ay nagpapatunay na hindi tayo kaya ng mga financiers and dealers of illegal drugs kung ang lahat ay talagang magkakaisa. There were reportedly 36 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 80 grams confiscated from the suspects who were all common targets of both PDEA and the Dagupan Police.

The successful operation was initiated through six (6) search warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court of Dagupan City. At hindi lang naman ang law enforcers ang nagtutulungan sa Dagupan, but even Mayor Belen Fernandez herself has been very supportive of their efforts. The good mayor even commended them for the success of their operation. Walang sayang na trabaho sa nagtutulungan!

Congratulations to PDEA RO1 Director Adrian Alvarino, Dagupan City Chief of Police Christopher Abrahano, Pangasinan PPO, SAF and Navy Intelligence! May your tribe increase!

Based on PDEA RO1 data, Dagupan City still leads in having seized the most volume of illegal drugs drug and evidence in the months of April and May this year. For the period, there was also no record of any employee from the public sector arrested.

If my readers will recall, Dagupan City is one of my favorite topics in this corner because I look at it as a role model for other towns and municipalities in Pangasinan. Magandang sunuran sa pagitan ng law enforcers at ng local government give positive results and produce continued trust and cooperation from the people.

Aside from the cooperation of Dagupeňos, it is the hardworking and very supportive Mayor Belen Fernandez that leads them to progress. We hope that the good partnership between her and the PNP Dagupan will continue dahil malaking bagay for the progress of the city.

That’s why I don’t see how it can fail in its campaign against the illegal drug problem! Slowly but surely ang strategy and with continued follow-up operations, we can look forward to a drug-free Dagupan City!

The case of Ms. Mary Jane Veloso is nothing new. For a long time now, many Pinoy OFWs are being used as drug mules in exchange of some measly amount, and for this they ended up in jail overseas waiting for their sentence, usually death sentence.

Paulit-ulit na scenario na ating nakikita! Hindi natututo ang Pinoy basta’t ang involved ay pera. Lahat ay gagawin kahit pa maging mitsa ng kanilang buhay. Dati-rati, a drug mule earns 2,000-2,500 US dollars per transaction! Not bad para sa pamilyang naghihirap di po ba?? But it puts one’s life in danger!

Let’s face it. Mahirap ang buhay sa Pilipinas ngayon but still, this is not enough reason to put your life in danger! Maraming paraan kung magsisikap. Walang maliit o mababang trabaho sa nais mabuhay.

Road construction at the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union-Expressway (TPLEX) is on-going, again by the Northern Builders of Tarlac Province.

I am raising this seemingly small fact because of reports reaching me that almost all the major road projects in the province are awarded to Northern Builders that employ only workers from Tarlac!

Our construction workers are not given any opportunity to be employed in such major projects, kahit tingi man lang sa mga pa-trabaho.

Sana pagdating sa pakinabang at grasya, fairly distributed among our people.
