Quo vadis, Philippines!

Gonz Duque

By Gonzalo T. Duque

IT seems our problematic country is in the midst of confusion – divided even right at the center – which we should blame by way of command responsibility on the President.

Pardon us for being harsh on the President, but it’s what we believe to be the truth. You bet, the sacrificial lamb, suspended PNP Director General Alan Purisima was transformed into a fall guy, a whipping boy.

Mabuting tao yan. We know him to be our former provincial director, obedient to a fault to his superiors.

Sayang ang destiny ng ating bansa, if you ask us.

Kung baga karag karag na kotse ito, nagwi-wiggle na, malapit nang bumagsak.

How did this come about, mga abay?

We told you. We said it before.

It’s because of vindictiveness. What’s going on with many respectable persons being detained or persecuted sans conviction in our courts.

In the not too distant past, we pointed out the continued detention of former President Gloria Arroyo, a half Pangasinense, even without court conviction. Her co-accused have been released, freed or bailed out.

No head of state has inflicted so much pain on the nation’s soul as the present leadership, even without a court’s conviction!.

Kaya yong Mamasapano tragedy ay parang nagsisilbing dagok sa ulo ng ating bansa. Masakit, makapasinagem in Pangasinan, at nakapanlulumo.

Up to this point, we have no idea as to which way all this bedlam will lead us.

Pray that it will be for the good.

For the good? Yong ang lagi nating sinasambit buhat noong namatay ang dalawang democracy icons – Ninoy Aquino and former President Cory Aquino, ironically, the heroic parents of our erratic president.

What a horrible twist of fate, of destiny.

At the 29th year anniversary of the Edsa Revolution, former President Eddie Ramos was a no-show.

He was one of the heroes of that great moment of our history.

We need not go further. You can read between the lines kung saan na patungo ang bansa na natin.

Pray that we shall survive.

May nagsasabi na ang medyo nag pe-perk up ng ating buhay these days is the upcoming fight between Money Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and our very own Pambansang Kamao Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.

Pag ganyan ang pinag-uusapan, gumaganda ang araw, lumiliksi at excited ang mga tao.

Nagmumukhang yong Mayweather-Pacquiao fight ang taga bigay ng sigla at tuwa sa mga Pinoy,

In the interest of Filipinos, the showdown will put the Philippine map on top of the world once more.

Lalo na kung manalo si Pambansang Kamao. Pray that he will win.

Even in the battle for good, our Pacquiao – a congressman from Saranggani – represents what is good, what is Christian. He has become an evangelist, hindi ba? Each time he’d face his foe, nagdarasal muna sa kanyang corner. He would even make the sign of the cross.

He said pananalunin daw siya ni Lord kasi mapagdasal. Sana pakinggan siya ng Diyos.

Si Mayweather naman ay mukhang erehes. No, not atheist, but he seems to care only for the purse, money, things material. And yes, his big ego. Kasi wala pang talo, kaya lang may style na no-no, nangsisiko e.

Sa kanilang laban, Mayweather will bag the bigger money, $120 million. Manny Pacqquiao will get $ 80 million!

Pero ok na rin yon. Manny said he ok’d it for the sake of the fans.

He he. If you ask us, talagang he will ok it – mantakin nyo sa isang encounter, bilyonir!

Magbalato ka naman, Manny!

The pro Duterte for President Movement notes with satisfaction that PDP-Laban, a major political party, is considering Rody Duterte as its presidential candidate in 2016.

Hmmm…see? What started as a joke in Mon Tulfo’s and former Gov. Manny Pinol’s columns is becoming real.

Was it not Joe Guevarra, the famous Manila Times columnist who once joked, “There’s more truth in a joke?”

Watch for developments.

Indeed, God works in mysterious ways. This axiom could apply on Rody Duterte.
