SOME friends asked, ano ba ang puno’t dulo ng awayan nila Mark C at Spines?

Ok, in the solemn spirit of All Saints Day, we shall simplify the story.

It started when Mark announced his plan to run for governor. The timing State of the Province Address Day, was bad for Spines. Kasi Mark was then surrounded by media people when he said he was running for governor.

And that was it. Ang naglabasan sa medya yong Mark announcement. Second or inside page yong SOPA.

That was followed by Espino’s boys denouncing the cutting of trees especially in the Fifth District where Mark’s wife Kimi is congresswoman.

Because of the criticisms, some P250-million earmarked for the road widening—kasama na yong tree cutting—was announced to be stopped.

Napurnada ang P250-million earmarked for the construction of the side-roads.

By the way, the infra in question is national road, not provincial.

While this developed, ang local news headline ngayon ay yong “forced” transfer ng mga estudyante ng Bayambang Central School to a certain barangay. Hot isyu ito, mga igan. We won’t be surprised if big names will be dragged in the controversy.

Our friend Sendong So, a close friend and adviser of Mark, plans to go to Bayambang to help oppose the transfer of Central School to a new site.

No, we aren’t saying the two sides—Mark’s and Spines—are involved in the school controversy.

Dinig ng columnist na ito, the old school site, which has been proposed for a mall is valued at P450 million, while the new site—with all the improvements—including construction of new 60 classrooms is worth P10 million! We heard the Sangguniang Bayan of Bayambang has not approved any ordinance regarding the swap of properties.

Ay, papaano na ito, Sendong?

By the way, maraming nag-feedback sa pag-guest ni Sendong sa Deretsahan nong Sabado. Maraming natuwa sa straight forward na pagsagot ni Sendong sa mga tanong. Jun Velasco sat in for main stay Sec. Bebot Villar who had a tight schedule then.

Maraming natuwa sa tanong kaya bang lampasan ni Mark ang super performance ni Guv Spines?” To which Sendong said “kayang kaya” and added that under Gov. Mark, the real property tax will surely be lowered.

On All Saints Day and All Souls Day, we always remember our loved ones–of course led by God, Jesus Christ as Number One, followed by our parents and brother.

We always share this very personal experience, because it works!

We thought that since it worked for us, it may or might work for others, too.

To our simple way of understanding, it’s better to pray to the souls of our departed parents because we are intimately linked with them. We know their faces, feelings, dispositions. Knowing that they are in league with the Lord, we can call on them to intercede for us especially when we have problems or we are in crisis.

At LNU, we’d sometimes face a blank wall while tackling a problem. At a time like this, we pray and meditate hard and long. We call on our erpat Dr. Paco and ermat Florencia Duque, and ask for their help.

Also, we call on brod Ado—Dr. Salvador—to help illumine our thoughts.

Mind you, in so many interminable, sometimes strange ways, solutions, enlightenment or some miracles would happen leading us to conclude that they are at work for us.

This is why even if they are no longer here, we see to it that they are still a part of us.

In the first week of December, a restaurant at the second floor of Le Duc Hotel will open. It’s named Bistro Florence, named after our mother Florencia. Marlene Gutierrez of Café du Marc, is the manager. Our daughter Pebbles is our “food taster,” and so far, she has ok’d Marlene’s preparations.

We have named the gym Dr. Salvador Duque Field House, and, of course, the entire university is erpat’s concept and institution. His statue and that of mamang are very visible in the school.

Happy Halloween!
