Mark C makes a mark!
By Gonzalo Duque
YES sirreee!
Former Congressman Mark Cojuangco said many good things about his supposed “katunggali”—Guv’nor Spines.
Well, literally, he as NPC gubernatorial candidate faces Board Member Amado “Pogi” Espino III. But everybody knows that ang kalaban ay si Gob alyas Spines.
How was that? Mark talking niceties about Spines?
Tua tan. It happened at our new talk show with Sec. Bebot Villar’s “Deretsahan.” Super ganda ang tandem namin ni Manong Bebot. Know what? Ang mga erpat namin—the late former Guv’nor Paco and the later former Vice Guv’nor Tonieng were political allies at mag-kumpadres. So—that explains our, Bebot and us’ chemistry.
At our initial presentation, ang guest namin ay ang NPC bet for governor, Mark Cojuangco.
Before we go to the main juice of our 2-hour interview with Mark, our Deretsahan would allow a guest to expound at full length his views on anything.
It’s unlike the “small talk” shows you usually see on TV or cable news. Dito, lahat ng nampisingan ng bisita ngatingaten da…we’d allow him or her that privilege.
From the looks of it, talagang go for good na itong si Mark. And he’ll do everything to win. May economic power e. Mayroon siyang cement plant sa Sison. May beer factory ang pamilya nila—San Miguel. Lahat ata tayo parokyano nila e. Big moolah yon, mga igan.
We, Manong Bebot and us, saw in the interview that Mark is putting on the line his ability—lahat ng nampisingan to—so that, if lucky, he could be of good service to the province.
He said he dreams to meet Guv’nor Spines or his son Pogi in the same forum. So, they kuno could clarify who has the best platform of government.
In the interview, when asked if he has anything good to say about Spines, Mark was gracious.
“Marami naman,” he said, mentioning the Capitol renovation, hospitals, at marami. This should disarm the guv’nor who lately has yet to say something good for Mark.
We remember in a similar talk show at Servicio Publiko questions like that to guests at war with each other were entertained.
When we asked then gubernatorial bet Nani Braganza about Spines, he said something like nagawa nga niya ang Capitolyo but magkano naman kaya ang kickback? Something to that effect.
When we asked Spines about his then gubernatorial foe, Nani, he snapped, “He is a demon.” Super bagyo met, agui. But we have to understand that it was then the height of Nani’s attacks that severely hurt Spines’ mother.
There came a point when Spines described Victor Agbayani as “an angel” compared to Nani.
At this point, our partner Bebot started to look stressed in light of our two friends—Mark and Spines/Pogi at war.
We teased Manong Bebot that at the rate he was getting stressed, he looked like a girl or swain who is torn between two lovers.
Parang Confucius?
It came to a point when our partner said, “sana magkasundo sila.”
Ha-ha-ha! Onkakapoy so stress reserve la amo, manong?
Well, as we used to say, we’d like to re-state a policy when flung into a situation where one has to make a stand.
And so, well, in the name of fair play, we invite Guv’ Spines or Guv’nor-to-be Pogi to appear in our Deretsahan when he comes back from abroad.
