BALON Biskeg has been adopted the official battlecry by the Dagupan City National High School alumni to drumbeat for their annual December 28 “Nite of Nites” at Mayor Belen T. Fernandez’s Grand Stadia International Palace in Barangay Lucao.

This was announced by Class 64 Gov., brod Dante, in a televised interview with Kabaleyan Channel’s Serbisyo Publiko over the weekend, with Joel Balolong and Freddie Fajardo in the panel.

Class 64 is observing its Golden Jubilee this year. Our Class 63, headed by Ope Reyna, had its Golden Jubilee last year.

The DCNHS Alumni Annual Reunion is easily the most attended night in the city, rivaled only by the City Fiesta Night on December 26.

Under its inspired leadership, this year’s homecoming bash hopes “to do better than the best.”

Tall order—but achievable, says alumni president Manny Roy.

Two, nay, three recent events hereabouts invite attention.

The appointment of police provincial director Reynaldo Biay of Mangaldan town; appointment of Mayor Belen Fernandez as Regional Peace and Order Council chair, and the Espino political power house’s resignation from the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) of Ambassador Danding Cojuangco.

First, whose man is Biay? The Palasyo? Or Urduja? This query because it will have something to say the 2016 elections.

Don’t say 2016 is still far off because in spite of calls for the downplaying of politics, local political alliances are  breaking up.

How do you explain the Celestes’ off-mark moves from Governor Spines, their known staunchest ally?

This turn of events makes the formidable Espino Power House work like a  loose cannon which could go LP or NP or UNA so long as it’s up and away from NPC.

Palasyo’s designation of Mayor Belen as Peace and Order chair is in recognition of her achievement in partnership with city police chief Chris Abrahano in crime fighting – a sine qua non in a development-oriented leadership.

The finally narrowing down of the gubernatorial showdown of Mark Cojuangco and Amado “Pogi” Espino III does not seem to end there.

We heard a Third Force is cooking under the aegis of the second largest political party here.

By the way, where is popular Congressman Pol Bataoil in the equation? A re-electionist congressman again? How about the equally popular Victor Agbayani? Pollsters see a fluid affair until the last month of the year. It is still a hazy, fuzzy, fluid affair!

Our brief talk with Justice Usec Toti Baraan over the phone confirmed suspicions that the billionaire Ampatuans will stop at nothing to obtain freedom by hook by crook.

Having known Toti for the last four decades, we find the accusations against him and his co-accused government prosecutors the workings of sinister forces.

Did you know that we were the commencement speaker during Toti’s high school graduation at the Dasol Catholic Academy? Yes, it was 1972. We were invited by school director Isabelo Velasquez.

We have a little gift in Sherlock Holmes psychology—and we believe Toti and his co-prosecutors are victims here, to pave the way for the bizarre killers’ freedom.

If you saw thru their manner in the massacre of innocent people including journalists some our own friends, you won’t hesitate to give credence to the theory that they could resort to anything to have their way including making a mockery of our justice system.

Let’s not allow it.
