DAGUPEÑOS—or those who attended the Dagupan Day celebration on June 20—were one in observation: the main secret of Mayor Belen Fernandez’s powerful connections upstairs, P-noy and Mar Roxas, is Rep. Gina de Venecia, beautiful wife of Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr.
Because of this partnership, multi-million infrastructure projects that would have been impossible to bring to the city have become possible.
No, not only possible—they are already here. Don’t be surprised if any day soon, you would see streets or roads being upgraded or elevated in barangays Amado, Malued, Pantal, etc.
You, too, have just seen the ongoing massive dredging of rivers that would increase fish harvest, but also prevent flooding.
Tuwing nagkikita ang dalawa, parang may bago na namang darating na project.
Palakpakan naman dyan!

Atty. Lamberto C. Nanquil, former supreme commander of the Knights of Rizal, was lavishly applauded in his speech at the National Hero’s birthday commemoration at the City Plaza, lalo na nang sinabi niya na Rizal was easily the best among the world’s most famous world leaders.
Talagang dapat ikinon awa?

Nakakatuwa ang mga kabataan na dumalo sa ating Kabaleyan Serbisyong Publiko Program noong June 19, kapanganakan ng ating Pambansang Bayani, Gat Jose Rizal.
Silang lahat ay magagaling.
Masaya ang show lalo na nang pinag usapan ang mga girlfriends ni Rizal.
Napag alaman natin kay Bert Nanquil na tuwing mag-seryoso na ang relasyon ay biglang umaatras si Rizal. May nagsasabi na may kakulangan ang kanyang pagkalalake. Ewan ko kung totoo ito kasi wala siyang naging seryoso na karelasyon except Josephine Bracken na kanyang pinakasalan, at nagkaanak sila ng isa kung saan naging blue baby at namatay pa.
Kawawa naman pala pero ang bayan ang beneficiary.
Masaya ang mga guests nating mga kabataan, mga young officers ng Dagupan City in observance of boys and girls week, dahil may humor at katatawanan ang discussion.
Ang mga kabataan pala ay galit na kina Enrile, Jinggoy at Bong. Tama lang po ang ganyang pananaw.
Nakita at narinig ng main guest na si Atty. Nanquil ang mga sharp at malalim na pananalita ng mga young officials.
They are really the personification of Jose Rizal’s hope in the fatherland.
Lagi nating naririnig ang sinabi niya na ang kabataan ay pag-asa ng bayan. Nakita natin ito sa mga young officers ng Dagupan.

We really need an ordinance creating the history, culture and arts committee in the Dagupan City government.
We always celebrate historic events like Independence Day, Rizal Day, Dagupan Day among others and yet there’s no office to handle these important events.
We are happy to learn that Mayor Belen Fernandez has recommended to the Sangguniang Panlungsod the passage of an ordinance creating such office.
We are also happy to know that City Supt. Gloria Torres is not only supporting this but in fact has gone ahead tasking DepEd personnel to prepare the module of such a committee so that later we can integrate local history into the education curriculum.

And so it is now clear that the local government is set to revive the old Dagupan logo in lieu of a new one that was found to be inappropriate.
Alam po ninyo ang old logo ay denesigned pa nang the late reverend Arch. Mariano Madriaga na may salitang “Sigue Dagupan.”
Tama si artist Alex Villaflor. Kung ang problema sa old logo ay ang hindi pagkarehistro sa concerned government agency, ang dapat lang gawin ay erehistro, that simple.
May mga wise guys na kinukumplekete ang simple kaya pati sila ay hindi nakakaintindi sa kanilang pinaggagawa.
