Simply call or text the police
By Bebot Villar
SOME drug users and traffickers obviously think that concerned citizens will just be deaf, mute and blind to their illegal selling and using boldly! Nagkakamali sila!
Proof of this was the recent arrest of two men who were leisurely smoking marijuana in Binondo na akala nila walang papansin sa kanila. They were wrong! Acting on a tip, police came to arrest them habang nagsasarap sa marijuana! But their biggest mistake was carrying a bag that police officers discovered to contain 10 kilos of shabu which was estimated to be valued at P100-M !
Masaya ako na people today are becoming more vigilant and alert sa kanilang neighborhood. Gone are the days when people were not the least concerned with what is happening in their community. Aba eh wala silang paki kahit may patayan at ayaw mag-witness. Siguro nga because they were afraid for their lives or simply didn’t want to be involved.
But in the campaign against illegal drugs and traffickers today, Juan de la Cruz can help by simply calling in or sending a text message to the police headquarter. Hindi nila kailangan mag-report and file a complaint sa police station. Call or text lang, ayos na.
In the campaign against illegal drugs, hindi magiging very effective ang law enforcers natin if the people will not cooperate with them. We should remember that as the country’s population grows leaps and bounds, the cases of criminalities especially drug-related are also increasing! Meaning, our law enforcers must double their efforts to secure us but even if they work 24/7, they simply cannot prevent commission of all crimes.

The Supreme Court said the Reproductive Health (RH) Law is “not unconstitutional.”
Many expected the Catholic clergy and laity to be bitter and angry. Mabuti na lang Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Soc Villegas, who is also the president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), quickly set the reconciliatory tone for the church.
While making it clear that the Catholic Church will continue to uphold the sanctity of human life and to protect the life from the womb and until the natural death of a human being, he also called on to the Catholic faithful to respect the Supreme Court.
Iyan ang church leader worthy of respect.
Ang sabi niya: “We still give the highest respect to our SC and we will always be supportive to their stand in the different issues that our country is now facing.”
I only hope that there will be an orderly and effectively implementation of this new law by our concerned agencies.

Today is Palm Sunday, signaling the start of the Holy Week.
Let us start recalling our life’s journey for the past year and see if we were able to mend our ways according to Christ’s teaching. Let us spend the Holy Week with Jesus in mind instead of taking it as an opportunity for a grand vacation, parties, etc.
I wish everyone a meaningful observance of the Lent Season.
