Bangus fest season is here!
By Gonzalo Duque
THURSDAY evening, the Lyceum Northwestern University students were thrilled no end by songbird Yeng Constantino, thanks to the dynamic student council headed by Danilo Soriano.
Palakpakan natin ang dynamic student council for its mature and responsive leadership.
This young man, Daniel, by the way, was chosen by Unicef as one of the country’s ten ambassadors of goodwill nationwide, yes, out of 100 bets. The youthful Daniel has not yet passed the board for teachers, and yet this early, DepEd is already considering him for a successful teaching career.
Hmm…taga LNU yan ha, mga abay!
Congrats, too, to all LNU faculty and students, for making possible Yeng Constantino’s successful date with Dagupenos and Pangasinenses.

Bangusfest is here, nay, it’s about to unfold! But the summer sun, the breeze, the typical sound and color of Dagupan’s much awaited Bangus world is here.
Our minds, our hearts are all there—the kaleidoscope, the vivid, picturesque, the aroma of grilled Dagupan bangus lining the Dagupan’s street. And, don’t look now, a new look will be unveiled this time—the international cook fest.
Oh, yes, we are drumming up worldwide attention on Bangusville because it’s our great, grand and phenomenal pride!
On top of the heap is, of course, no other than our dynamic mayora, Belen T. Fernandez who, we said here last time, has emerged the fittest to create a successful summerfest beginning now.
Dagupan going international? You bet, it is, at press time, several ambassadors have intimated their acceptance of the city’s invitation to grace bangusfest.
While Dagupan’s Summerville looks sunny everywhere, there is a looming darkness in a certain corner concerning the controversial “under priced” purchase of MCAdore Hotel by Ambassador Antonio Cabangon-Chua.
As most of you must have known, there’s an organized “lying propaganda machine” a renegade media identified with the discredited past administration has been ramming down the throats of Dagupenos picturing Mayor Belen Fernandez as “anti business” because she is stoutly anti-purchase kuno by the ambassador of the MCAdore.
This lying propaganda gang believes that a lie repeated several times would have the effect of truth, a gimmick used to the full by Adolf Hitler during World War II.
The line of attack, mga atateng at agagui, is that with the continuous put-down campaign by DWIZ and DWPR, Mayor Fernandez would collapse and Cabangon Chua gets away with his underpriced purchase.
But is that what’s happening?
Nope! Lumalabas na ang mga alipores ng discredited administration has fooled the buyer-Cabangon Chua—into buying a legit sale which is not; its purchase was attended by fraud and corruption.
That illegal SP resolution authorizing then Mayor Benjie Lim “to initiate” the sale of MCAdore was the rug from under.
This corner sincerely commiserates with Mr. Cabangon Chua. We know that when he succumbed to the sales talk of BSL’s boys the likes of Tony Uy the ambassador must have really thought and believed he was into a legitimate business preposition.
Mr. Cabangon Chua is a successful business leader. Outside of the ill-fated MCAdore buy, he has other business interests in Dagupan like Orchids Hotel, Eternal Gardens, Music Warehouse, Fortune, the catering business for Region 1 Medical Center, and others.
The Belen Fernandez government has been very supportive of Ambassador’s business—except the MCAdore purchase, which has become a monument of fraud and corruption: Belen has been consistent on this. If she yields to pressure—i.e., “bought” media pressure—she’d be remiss in her duties as the leader of our city. Belen knows whereof she stands—matuwid na daan. Kayo namang mga paid hacks; amta yo met so kipapasan yo.
Lolokoen yo met lay Ambassador!
All the world knows who is being screwed and who is doing the screwing.
Soon! Mark our word! Magkakabokoan na. We know that the Ambassador knows deep in his heart whom to believe. He was not born yesterday.
Mag-bangus fest muna tayo!
