Another Colombia?

BEBOT VILLAR

MAY kakilala tayong politiko ang nagsasabi if we really want to stay on top the  illegal drug problem ,we need to improve our intelligence networking especially  with the Interpol so we can have the watchlist of foreign nationals engaged in drug cartel!

May suggestion pa, upon entry daw ng isang foreign national, examine the document??!!

The problem is not the networking but with our enforcers! Nariyan ang watch list, papasok ang subject sa airport, pero merong immigration official who assists him/her to enter together with the contraband!

Meron lang tinatawag na `gray areas’ that our corrupt law enforcers are taking advantage of! So it’s not also true na it is the police witnesses ang problema ng drug-related cases.

Pinoy excels globally kahit saang aspeto.

If our situation does not improve, it could happen nga that the Philippines, sooner or later, will become another Colombia or Mexico.

Maybe, only individual conscience that will save the country. Kung matigas ang dibdib at mahiyain, tuloy lang ang kaso at paninindigan whatever will be the outcome of the case.

When a child is hurt, it is usually the mother who feels the pain because she always wants her child protected from harm.

So for a mother to report to the police that her son is a drug user must be a painful experience for her. This was the case of one mother in Binalonan. She had no choice but to report to the police that her son was a drug user and was growing marijuana plants inside their compound. What the mother did was an act of courage at labis na pagmamahal sa kanyang anak.

She had to do it. Her son, a 34-year-old drug dependent, was already stealing from her just be able to have money to pay for illegal drugs. But how many mothers out there can do what she did for her son?

Now that her son finally experienced how it feels to be in jail, there is a big chance that he can change his life for the better.

Again, this situation shows how illegal drugs destroy a person and a family.

At a young age, they become mothers. And they are jobless and dependent on their parents.  Paano na lang ang future nila?

This situation, of course, did not escape Mayor Belen Fernandez. After being briefed on the situation last year, she immediately put the city population office into action. And over the past months, a team had been visiting high schools all over the city conducting lectures on teenage pregnancy and its consequences, hoping to stop the increasing number of pregnant young girls.

According to the United Nations Population Fund Agency, the incidence of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines increased by 65 percent in the last 10 years.

By the way, a warm congratulations to Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez, Chief of Police Christopher Abrahano and PDEA-1.  Two alleged pushers, isang senior citizen at isang 38 years old, were nabbed last week. Sila ay nakuhanan ng 14 sachets of suspected shabu or equivalent to 70 grams.

Kung tuloy-tuloy ang ganitong operasyon, malaking tulong ito in curbing the illegal drugs in Dagupan. Once again, congratulations!
