Decadent China?

SAD news!

Our friend from San Francisco, California – Friends USA President Dado Macaraeg – who was below 60, succumbed to a lingering illness. The new hit u like a hard rock. He was one of our bet friends.

We wish to condole with his family especially, his wife, the former Arlene Quinto.

We did not anticipate his death… although we did not understand why we did not go to the family residence the last time we were there a couple of months ago.

Probably, we did not want to bother them because they were always our most attentive hosts whenever we were in town.

We’ll miss him. Talagang ganyan ang buhay awa? Una una lang.

Also, in Dagupan, our other friend, Cecil Maala, 82, died too this week. We condole with the family.

Talagang kung oras mo na, wala na tayong magagawa. Diyos na ang bahala.

There’s an ongoing orientation-seminar under the auspices of the National Commission on Culture & Arts at the City Museum.

Dapat lang ano?

Before the locals could start work they have to be familiar or conversant with the workings of the NCCA. Attention, stakeholders!

We wish to thank Mayor Belen T. Fernandez for appointing us chair of the City Historical, Culture & Arts Commission with 14 proposed board members, with BTF as honorary chair.

It just came to our mind about the many beautiful paintings at the City Museum such as those by National Artist Victor Edades. The masterpieces are just lying there. Edades’ art is worth millions of pesos! They should be preserved and secured.

We believe in all our activities, we should find a place for art.

We challenge therefore the board members to do their share in promoting art… like dances, mulic, paintings, etc.

Among the proposed board members are Bishop Soc Villegas, Dr. Li Rivera, Dr. Chito Salazar, Dr. Au Reyna, Dr. Gloria Torres, Councilor Jigs Seen, Councilor Lino Fernandez, Kap Brian Kua, Dr. Ashok Vassandani, Mrs. Elmina Fernandez, and Dr. Lourdes Jacinto.

Having seen there at work, we’re sure they will serve their office with enthusiasm.

Our national leaders are at war— not against another country… but against one another. They are throwing stones at each other.

Instead of solving our problems, they are accusing each other of corruption and wrongdoings.

They don’t realize that at the end of the day, they are failures in uniting our country. While we like what they are doing — exposing each others’ sins – it has gone to a point that their acts are worrisome, a they could be detrimental to the country.

In China, there is a developing culture that we don’t want in our country. We’re sure the Great Mao Tse Tung did not anticipate that one day — years after he is dead — some of his people would be shortchanging consumers with products that they manufacture, like milk that cause sickness, food containing lead and mercury.

Kaya pala mura. The US has begun avoiding China products. Are we still surprised if the time has come to give that popular country the title of Decadent China?
