Gov’t personnel empowerment

Gonz Duque

By Gonzalo Duque

OUR birthday was on January l6.

We are a Capricornian, fiery, but all loving, kaya mapalad ang loved one, ang ating asawa.

Well, we marked our day with a dry run of our 8-story Le Duc Hotel.

Le duc is French or duke in English, and duque in Spanish.

Le Duc Hotel can accommodate 400 people. It’s ideal for convention, meetings, weddings, etc.

The Association of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities (APSCU) under Dr. Macky Samson held its convention at Le Duc on January 16.

We’re glad that our partner, Macky was impressed.  That was his first word. He daw was “impressed.”

Mabuti naman, partner!

We’re glad many groups have already made reservations. Dahil dry run pa lang, it will probably take two weeks more before all facilities will be ready, including the penthouse, a restaurant, the laundry shop, etc.

The hotel could serve as lab for tourism and HR courses.

Mayor Belen was thinking aloud the hotel could serve as a disaster center. A tsunami can’t reach the 4th floor, you know.

But let’s hope and pray there’d be no tsunami, mairap la, agagui.

So, you see, busy tayo sa birthday!  Ontan labat so bilay awa?

Atty. Manuel Manuel, our indefatigable and brilliant lawyer, gave us a rare birthday gift.

What was it? But first, thanks a lot, Manny.

He announced to us that the Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal filed by the Dagupan City government against the private universities and colleges, notably the University of Luzon and the Lyceum Northwestern University on the  much publicized business tax case.

The case was decided in the sala of RTC Judge Genoveva Maramba, who anchored her decision in their failure to make an appeal’s brief as required by the CA. The decision is final, since the period for filing an appeal has already lapsed.

Paano na ito, mga igan? How will the city government react to this?

Hmm, Mayor Belen, kumusta na?

A rosy week for the Civil Service Commission.

This professional government body thru its regional office under Director Nelson Sarmiento held a seminar in San Fernando to empower local governments.

Aren’t we glad that the Civil Service has reached out to the local workers instead of going to Manila just to be briefed by CSC on the latest government rules and regulations.

This time, the CSC people come to the province to empower government personnel, focusing on team performance, while before, it was on the individual performance, which was subjective.

These days target performance or commitments to assigned work are evaluated on performed work. If you are rated poor or way below the target, you can be dismissed by your superior

Marakep ya agagui . Onabig so serbisyo.
