Finally, an action plan from mayors

TAMA ang response ni Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. to the alarming situation of drug abuse sa Pangasinan.  Through the Mayors’ League, the father of Pangasinan, stressed na kailangan magka-isa ang mga mayors in the province to curb the worsening  problem of illegal drugs.

And I am happy that my kumpadre is supporting the mandate of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB). Finally, our mayors can now be expected to act and protect their respective communities from drug dealers and pushers.

Hininigi na ni governor ang Action Plan ng mga mayor for the provincewide campaign against illegal drugs. This is a good move! I only hope the Action Plan will not just be on paper…. sana maging makatotohanan.

We all know that the governor has many concerns to attend to, hindi lang illegal drugs kaya it’s important that our mayors help by actively resolving problems in their respective towns. At dapat um-action na sila because very alarming na ang situation. DDB regularly receives report that illegal drug trading in our province continues to worsen!  Sa totoo lang, nahihiya ako, as chairman of DDB, to be told that my beloved province is drug-infested.

Sterling Raymund Blanco after receiving direct instruction from the governor to intensify the campaign against all kinds of criminalities in the province.  Initially, nag-conduct na ng inspection si Blanco sa mga police stations to validate the peace and order problems that need immediate solutions. Hopefully, kasama ang illegal drugs on his list!

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is in-charge here but it cannot do the job alone since kulang na kulang sila sa tao at sa resources. They still need help at alam ‘yan ni Regional Director Adrian Albariño.  Kaya kailangan talaga ang mag-double time!

PDEA held its command conference for 3 days last week at its Quezon City headquarters.  Sana included na rito ang OPLAN that will help stop the drug problem in Region 1 especially in Pangasinan.  From what I gather, we urgently need to double our efforts to protect our youth and other prospective victims.

Since merong one official who claims he is not satisfied sa performance ng PDEA, they really have to prove that they can do the job.  He should know because he oversees the anti-drug activities like me in Pangasinan.

Ang sa akin lang, nagkaroon ng chance ang official na ito to help DDB and PDEA through his PDAF, but he did nothing! At ngayon s’ya nagdadadakdak!  Anong meron???

Remember, we are dealing with a syndicate that has an international network, well-financed at well-connected! They cannot simply enter our country without “big connection,” at alam nating lahat ‘yan!!

Marami kasi ang “magicians” dito sa Pilipinas!  Ang bawal ay nagiging puwede at legal basta the price is right.

Sa totoo lang, the ball is in the Barangay Captains’ court pagdating sa usaping ‘yan.

I may be repetitious but I do not care.  ‘Wag nyong hintayin na ang sarili nyong mga anak ang ma-biktima ng droga bago kayo umaksyon!”  Remember, walang unang pagsisisi!
