Blockbuster in 2016

Bebot Villar

THIS early, the 4th district of Pangasinan is already agog with prospects of 2016 elections.

As many have began to observe, hindi pa man umiinit sa upuan ang mga elected officials noong May 2013 elections ay heto na naman at may iba diyan na ikinakamada na ang next fight. That’s politics, the earlier, the better, ang motto ng iba.

I have already been receiving rumors and speculations tungkol sa pagtakbong muli ni Gov. Amado Espino Jr. The reports say, si Gov who is now in his last term, is eyeing the fourth congressional district seat.

Surprising? Oh well, if we are to analyze, hindi na bago ito for Gov. Espino na tatakbo outside his known turf as he had done it before, as congressman. And he did it successfully. Remember that the governor is from Bautista town which is part of the fifth congressional district but nagawa nyang maging congressman ng second congressional district twice until he decided to fight for the gubernatorial post nung pang-third term sana nya.

He did it boldly maski many doubted kung kakayanin nga nya. Kung anong klaseng strategy ang ginamit niya remains secret up to now.

Sa fourth district, well I heard from the grapevine na merong hidden sentiments si Gov. against the de Venecias pero saka na lang natin pag-usapan kung ano yun, when the right time comes.

According to my sources, may bahay diumano si Gov sa San Fabian which is part of fourth district. The question is, yun na nga kaya ang indicator na tatakbo nga sya doon?

One source said one of the barangay leaders in one of the towns in fourth district was reportedly already approached by the governor for help in the next congressional fight.

Indicators becoming clearer kaya?

Sa politics, hanggat malakas pa ang katawan ng isang pulitiko ay go lang ng go. The governor is still young, healthy and very able.  Espine is unstoppable. If ever mangyari itong mga balita ng kanyang pagtakbo sa fourth district, it would be a fight of the century sa Pangasinan kasi Espino versus de Venecia, matindi yun.

That should be expected dahil malaki at marami silang nagawa sa kanilang turf. But forever love kaya ito? Will it be Congressman Manay uli for her third term in 2016 or susubo si former House Speaker Joe in case si Espines ang kalaban nila?

Malakas ang hatak ni Gov despite all the issues raised against him in the last elections. Take note that he won overwhelmingly in all the districts in Pangasinan. Dapang-dapa ang mga kalaban nya.

Will history repeat itself?

Indeed, something to look forward itong laban na ito.  Matira ang matibay.
