Future plans for Pogi

Bebot Villar

By Bebot Villar

THIS early, I want to congratulate former Bautista Mayor Amado Espino III, better known as Pogi, for running unopposed, yes, believe it or not, as barangay captain of Poblacion in his hometown.

Surprised? Maybe to some yes. To others, that was expected.

Hindi aakalain ng iba that a three-term mayor would move down as barangay captain. But Pogi was not just a mayor. He is the son and namesake of Gov. Amado Espino Jr. If you noticed, pareho ang pangalan nila and the governor is now in his third term, making him a graduating governor.

Kung malikot ang isip nyo kagaya ko, you can easily conclude that perhaps Pogi is up to something big. A provincial position perhaps? And why not? Pogi’s uncle, former Board Member Amadeo Espino who was president of the provincial federation of Liga ng mga Barangay for three terms, is now mayor of Bautista.

As barangay captain, Pogi will be eventually elected as the municipal Liga ng mga Barangay president onward to the provincial Liga. And who would dare fight Pogi?

As the provincial Liga ng mga Barangay president, Pogi will surely be guided by his father and uncle. Magandang training ground na yan, Pogi, for something bigger in the coming years. No sweat, walk in the park na yan!

Mabait, certified guwapo, magaling makisama, very humble at marunong makisama sa tao. Siguradong voters’ choice si Pogi! If there is someone who is very happy with this development, number one dyan si Gov dahil alam niyang meron syang tagapagmana sa mga accomplishments nya sa Pangasinan.

Still about the Oct. 28 barangay election, bakit kaya there are candidates na buwis-buhay para lang manalo?

May iba dyan bigla na lang nananapak if they lose supporters or namamaril ng karibal. What is it about that post that make them do it? Power, prestige, money? Maganda kaya ang kita dyan to the point na itataya ang buhay ng mga kandidato pati kabuhayan nila?

Money-money uli ang labanan, kawawa na ang mga walang pera but may tunay na puso to serve pero hindi nabibigyan ng chance.

Mabuti nga at lumabas na yang Napoles issue. It looks like nabawasan maski papaano ang dami at laki ng expenses at vote-buying.

You know who they are sa barangay ninyo at kapag magkamali pa kayong muli sa pagpili, you will regret it nang paulit-ulit sa bandang huli.

Isipin nyo, three more years of either glory or suffering kaya think well before you cast your precious vote.

(APOLOGIES: The editor apologizes to Sec. Villar and our readers for the inadvertent error in proofreading the title of his column last week. It should have read: Drug problem “already contained” but was printed as Drug problem in “already contained”. It shouldn’t have happened and we’re sorry it did).
