I sing Pangasinan!
By Johanne Margarette R. Macob
WRITE. Sing. Perform. Love Pangasinan.
As a Pangasinan youth who has this outlet, this privilege to be heard (or yes, read) by some, I am very much holding myself responsible for the dissemination of information that I personally think would interest my fellows, particularly those of my generation.
And this article is one of those kind of info, following my “Baruy Pangasinan” article last week.
Launched by the Tourism Operations Division of the provincial government during the Tourism Month program, this new contest calls for anyone who can write a Pangasinan tourism-themed song, perform that song, and make a video of that song.
The song and video should show how one appreciates the province: its people, its destinations, its delicacies, its culture. Simply, show your love for Pangasinan through your song and video.
I believe there are a lot of talented and musically-inclined Pangasinenses. I know a lot who are of my age. Well, since I’m into writing – not to mention about our province – I, too, am thinking of joining that together with my friends, of course. Yes, anyone can join.
Apart from the P250,000 total cash prizes that await winners, I think the greatest reward the winner/s can boast about is the fact that his/her/their composition will be the official tourism song of the province. Awesome, isn’t it? It’s like hitting two birds with one stone, that cliché but seemingly legit in this case.
All that being said, I urge everyone to give this contest a shot. You’ll never know where your talent may bring you. This is one great opportunity to sing our Pangasinense-heart out!
So for more information, you may contact the Pangasinan Tourism Operations Division with office located at the Capitol Complex. And they’re on Facebook as well!
