Playing with Fire
Corruption of Dagupenos
By Gonzalo Duque
THIS is our second-to-the-last column before election day.
We’re happy to have participated in the exercise of enlightening the public on matters of great and grave concern.
Locally, we have made our arguments clear on our advocacy- why we are not voting for Benjie Lim.
Yes, No. Argument is the garbage problem.
Mayor Lim got Php. 16 million from the city coffers to pay for the supposed landfill project in Barangay Awai in San Jacinto.
There’s no such project.
He did not return the money to the city fund. And he is hiding the issue by means of diversionary PR, blaming politics for the Awai project. But where did he hide the P16 million? Nakolimbat?
By the way, nadaan tayo kamakalawa sa supposed “Daongan” restaurant that the mayor without, as usual, authorization from the sanggunian. The skeleton of the failed restaurant has been abandoned.
Why unfinished? Basic courtesy met sana a? Another waste!
Dapat may malaking billboard doon na nagsasabing “This unfinished building is a symbol of corruption at padalos dalos na desisyon!”

In all our years in Dagupan, it’s only now that we are very outspoken against the continued mal-administration of the present leadership.
How can we forget the aborted candidacy of Belen T. (Tamondong) Fernandez for mayor? Si Belen T (amondong) ang nagsqueal against Benjie Lim even after she was given P2,000 and a tricycle unit.

Btw, where in the world can you find public officials openly and obscenely violating the law?
And where in the world can you find a father-and-son team running for mayor and vice mayor unashamedly promoting illegal and immoral gambling right under the noses of parents, grandparents, children and the general public?
Where else … but in our pitiful, kaawa awang ciudad ng Dagupan! And the promoters? You know them … Wala ng iba kundi ang mag amang Benjie Lim, who is running for re-election, and his son, Councilor Brian Lim, a candidate for vice mayor. Benjie’s wife, Manang Celia, is reportedly still in the running but is not campaigning, alam nila na walang kalaban laban kay Gina.
Everybody knows that BB (Benjie – Brian or Bingo –Bonanza) is a left-handed trick to fool the public especially the poor to play bingo.
After indulging (nagpapasasa?) in gambling, the public would be asked to vote for the BB!

Overheard at a certain birthday party. A Ramon Santillan asked the mother of Dada Manaois-Reyna, chubby, life-of-the-party Marilyn M. Reyna –
“whom would you recommend for us to vote for mayor?”
Sensing the question was a trap, the daughter of former Mayor Opring Manaois snapped, “that’s impertinent!”…….
Based on surveys given last Friday, Belen Fernandez was leading by 20 percent……
Re-electionist Rep. Manay Gina de Venecia, who is expected to win by 95 percent in Dagupan City, appeals to Dagupenos to support to the hilt “a close ally so that we shall have more projects for Dagupan’s continued growth.”
The same appeal was issued by President Pnoy to Dagupenos, “iboto si Belen para tuloy tuloy ang asenso.”
