IT’S PRISAA time!
In case you don’t know yet, PRISAA is Private Schools Athletic Association.
So we rephrase the sentence… it’s PRISAA games time!
The timing is just perfect.
Look, we are celebrating the Chinese Christmas on February 10, the Chinese New Year on February 11, and also the Feast of the Lady of Lourdes on February 11, and the climax, Valentine’s Day on Feb.14!
It’s PRISAA’S 60th Anniversary, too. That’s why we are in festive mood, yes, in the province of Pangasinan.
And we are happy for Gov. Spines because he, being the father of the province, is the No.1 beneficiary of our jubilation.
So, in behalf of Spines and the PRISAA of which we are president we wish to welcome one and all, and thank you all for the support, conditional, unconditional or otherwise.
Shall we mention a few special nice souls?
OK, there’s Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez who filled in what the city mayor should have done: donating muriatic acid and chlorine for LNU’s swimming pool, which will be used in the swimming competition.
Well, before, then Mayor Benjie Lim shouldered the cost of the pool’s renovation, improvements, etc. to the tune of P2-million!
OK lang yan… hmm… we promised to hold any criticism during the PRISAA season. So, let’s move on.
We also say T.Y. to Rep. Gina de Venecia, Dr. James Dy of the Chinese General Hospital; PRISAA chair Manny Angeles, Div. of Schools Superintendent Dr. Alma Carunungan-Torio, Ched Director Caridad Abuan, PSU President Vic Estira; Rep. Pol Bataoil, Mayors BSL, Ayoy Resuello, Bobom Perez and Nani Braganza; Provincial Administrator Raffy Baraan, Executive Assistant Modesto Operaña, PIO Opheus Velasco and other officials involved in ensuring the PRISAA’S success.
You see, we have been with PRISAA for about four years now. We became Region I president and now national president.
We are honored and grateful for this opportunity.
As things stand now, our province has shown its capability in playing host to a big sporting event such as this. What’s remarkable about the province’s hosting is that it has succeeded in inculcating discipline in the use of the sporting facilities.
It is a given in most hosting, that the athletes, the sport officials and the general public won’t mind kicking chairs and spreading their waste after the event.
Worse, some people would bring home the toilet bowls and other fixtures. This puts to question their character—or lack of it.
Misalamat tayo ta this behavior is now disappearing.
The Palaro, now the PRISAA, the DepEd and all the supporting agencies have shown to the whole world that as far as Pangasinan’s hosting is concerned, the words “propriety” and “decorum” have been observed.
The province has shown that it is different.
Pangasinan—the beloved province of our A-1 performing governor Amado Espino Jr.—is incomparable in hosting, not only in ensuring the success of the event outwardly, but also, inwardly, because of the discipline of the people.
That is probably the fruit of a disciplined leadership bred from a military paradigm.
Mabuhay, Pangasinan! Mabuhay, Gov. Spines!

Over in Apo Baket country, we wish to felicitate our favorite candidate for mayor Ming Rosario for Manaoag mayor.
All the reasons for his election are already there. But still we advise him to try his best. As the late Tata Condring Estrella would advise candidates, don’t hesitate to ask voters to vote for you. If you don’t, they’d go for the one who asked for their vote.
That’s a lesson from a successful politician himself, eh, Ming?
