The Muslim community and illegal drugs

LOOKS like malaking advantage nga kapag galing sa anti-drugs body ang chief of police ng Dagupan para mas magiging bullseye ang pag-atake sa long-time illegal drug problem sa lugar na ito.

At maganda rin if the head of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), in the person of retired PNP Director General Art Cacdac, ay respetado at garantisadong action man na hindi mahilig sa mga publicity gimmicks lamang.

When P/Supt Chris Abrahano, formerly with the PDEA, assumed the top post as “officer-in-charge” police chief of Dagupan, nagpakitang gilas right away, with, of course, the vital support of PDEA-Region I under Regional Director Jeoffrey Tacio. He and PDEA seized 215 grams of shabu inside a Muslim community sa Bonuan Gueset.

Tignan nyo, may mga minors among those arrested at balita ko may buntis pa. But their status or conditions in life should not prevent our lawmen from pursuing the filing of cases against them. Minor or pregnant, dapat maparusahan kung ano ang nararapat so they will learn their lessons.

Pasensya na sa mga brother Muslims but among those arrested are your friends and relatives. So pwede bang pakibigyan nyo ako ng deretsahang sagot ng mga leaders ng mga Muslim communities – Why is the situation like this?

What happened to your pledges and promises to help eradicate illegal drugs?

Ang pag-assign ng police in the community to prevent the entry of illegal substance? Pero what happened? Business as usual?

Pero sa mga isinagawang dialogues, ito ang matindi: The mayor of Dagupan City announced and threatened to demolish houses of suspected drug pushers in the Muslim community yet ilang beses na bang may nahulihan ng droga sa lugar na yan? May sinunog na bang bahay as the mayor earlier threatened? Wala pa akong narining.

Hindi tayo naglolokohan dito. We mean business here.

Kung ayaw nilang tumigil sa pagbenta ng illegal drugs, it’s high time na ipakita ng mga public officials that they mean what they say!

Kung kayang makakumpiska ng 215 grams of shabu sa Dagupan in a day’s work, you can imagine what’s happening in other towns and cities in Pangasinan? Drug-affected din sila but you wonder why ang mga local and provincial officials ay parang hindi nababahala even knowing na ang daming shabu na itinitinda sa lugar nila.

Since Vice Gov. Act, act, act!

They must sustain the momentum, re-activate and revitalize anti-drug abuse councils from the barangays up to the provincial level. Bigyan nila rin ng kaukulang funding ang anti-drugs abuse programs, maski kakarampot lang, compared to the millions of pesos poured into worthless projects na puro pagpapa-pogi lang.

By the way, balita ko din sa Urdaneta City ay masigasig din ang campaign ni P/Supt. Paquito Navarrete, ang bagong police chief nila, against illegal drugs, especially in a populated Muslim community.

Based on the information that reached me, may mga itinutumba na daw dyan na mga suspected drug pushers. I don’t know who’s behind it but the thing is, this should send a strong message to all behind the illegal drug trade na panahon na para linisin ang dumi ng community.

And they must stop now, otherwise it might be too late.
