How do you solve a problem like the Reynas?

By Gonzalo Duque

GOOD news for sports-minded people.

The national PRISAA games hosted by our province will reel off on February 10 and last till Feb. l6.

Venue is the spic’n span Narciso Ramos Sports stadium. Don’t miss it, fellas?

Have you gone to the place?  You should, by all means, and you’ll see how beautiful, how superb and world-class a sport facility we have!

Katon dakkel so mangibabagan unbeatable yay governador tayo e, ta akagaway world class ya sport facility among other feats. It has become a legacy.

When the PRISSA national chairman and his technical staff came for an inspection visit, they were full of wows and nonstop admiration. The word is “namangha sila.” Ag ira makapanisia agagui.

When they talked to a security guard at the Sison auditorium, they were doubly surprised because he could talk with competence. They thought they were talking with a tourist guide. We were told that the sekyus were not trained in security work only, but more. They are in multi tasking.

By the way, during their visit, the Iglesia ni Cristo was having its sport fest too.

It’s now common knowledge in Pangasinan after its successful hosting of the last Palaro, that the province has become favorite venue of games and sport activities.

According to Dep Ed Sec. Armin Luistro, Pangasinan’s hosting has become a benchmark in Palaro hosting nationwide.

Thumbs up for Gov Spines, and our Pangasinense folk!

* * * *

WE are familiar with that Sound of Music song, “How do you solve the problem like Maria.”

Well, we have our local version, “How do you solve the problem like the Reynas?”

As you know, our friend, Dagupan waterworks Administration GM Ramon C. Reyna was – of all people — slapped with a preventive suspension recently. Who was behind this unwelcome putdown? Who else but, Mayor Benjie Lim!

Singa agto antay nanlapuan to awa, Manny? He forgot that when he was a nobody, it was the late Mama Libring, or former Mayor Liberato Ll. Reyna Sr., who helped build him up in the city, as a civic and later political leader.

Anggapo pare. Makapuy!

Why did Benjie Lim suspend Ramon Reyna? Due to incomptence?  Abuse of authority? No, we can’t buy the rumor that certain irregularities as head of the local water district did him in. We know the Reynas, they won’t do such a thing.

Later developments say that Mayor Lim denied during a dinner at
“mis-Fortune Restaurant” that he caused the suspension of Reyna. Yes, he denied it to Councilor Dada Manaois Reyna.

Could you believe that? Nitan ka lamet agagui, padalos dalos lamet amo?  Reyna sinuspende na Benjie?  He has tainted Ramon’s public record.

According to our grapevine, Mayor Lim appears to be parang nilawan ed ginawa to. He did not mean to do it, say the rumors. Hmm, atrasado lay pambabawi, agagui. Aderal lay publc image nen friend tayo.

Reports say that he told a member of Reyna family that the suspension could be “disregarded” (just like that ha?) if only Ramon could persuade Ope to meet with him alone. For what? Baka magiken day Ope, huag po? But Ramon won’t bite the bait. Ope has nothing to do with his case. Ramon intimated will fight to the finish to clear his name.

At this juncture, we wish to call the attention of Councilor Karlos Reyna, brilliant son of Ramon. We smell Mayor Lim is acting in a highhanded manner because Karlos was involved in the ugly MCAdore case, a member of the so-called Judas 9.

We had a short talk with Ope, and we could feel the fury in his heart. Dapat lang. Silensyo lang si Ope but he is capable of delivering a fatal blow against corruption. We have heard enough about what he and Manny Roy did to Benjie Lim during a big Reyna Clan meeting at the CSI last Saturday. It was a total attack against the corruption of Benjie Lim.

As for Karlos, our wish is for him to dissociate himself for good from the man who seduced him to approve the sale of MCAdore with strings attached. We suggest he return whatever DP he got and received and restore the Reynas’ respectability in Dagupan.

If you are able to do this, Karlos, you would make your Lolo Libring smile in his grave. And eventually strengthen your father Ramon’s fight for justice at the Dawasa.

Good luck!
