MadiLIM  & MakuLIMLIM

By Gonzalo Duque

HAPPY New Year!

We had two pre-election casualties. Mayor Ruperto Martinez of Infanta, who was slain under mysterious circumstances, and Mayor Hermie Romero of Mangaldan, who died after delivering a speech in San Fabian. He was a candidate for board member.

What a way to celebrate Christmas and start the new year!

Let’s pray for the repose of their souls. And in the case of Martinez, pray that he got justice soon.

God in His infinite wisdom will give them solace and comfort to their families and spiritual justice in their new abodes.

Now that Christmas is over, will this column resume the fireworks?

Three days back, we were listening to Rhee Hortaleza over Aksyon Radyo on political dynasty. He was hitting the bullseye. Say problema agto manbitlay ngaran, but those who know the characters in the election, knew what family is leading in creating a political dynasty in Dagupan City.

Ciopa ni ey, agagui? Di aray Lim family!

Benjie Lim for mayor, Celia Lim for congresswoman and Brian Lim for vice mayor!

Agaylayan panag abusoy ciudad! Does the Lim family really think angapo lay nayarin manserbi?

Angalo pay matalunggaring, anggapo lay walay talino?

Did the Lims consider the highest public interest when they decided to file respectively their certificates of candidacy?

Anggaylana kasibletan, agagui!

They will say there’s no enabling law against one who wants to serve especially if you have the ill-gotten millions to fund a campaign!

There you are. But the moral issue is thrown in the garbage can.

We wonder why even our cumadre, Celia, allowed herself to be used possibly as a “concession” just to ensure victory at all cost.

Agni ra naksel, agagui. Sinamsam dala lanti Magsaysay Park, which was hastily allowed for public use by a Sanggunian measure, so that most if not all the business establishments thereat belong to no other else than . . . you know who.

Singa narerengel koy Evita Peron ya mangacancion na “Don’t Cry for me Argentina?” This time, ii’s “Don’t Cry for me Dagupan.”

Sisipsipen dalay nakekeran kayaman na ciudad. What, kasuan? Exactly! But the wheels of justice in this country grind some slowly, by the time, the crime is proven, naopot lay patrimony ciudad!

Wala lad Ombudsman may Awai deal, mantalaran lara, let’s thank some stout souls like Judge Emma Torio who can’t be bought, and civic leader Leo Angeles who had the courage to stand up for the abused people of Dagupan. Dakkel ni ratay local heroes tayo.

At this juncture, we heard that the great Joe de V was being set up to make it appear that he and Benjie Lim were in talking terms. There was this phone call, but the former Speaker did not budge.

The waylayer also tried Congresswoman Gina who also ignored the set-up, so palpak!

We wish to warn the great JdV not to allow it ”anymore.” Know what? This kind of gimmick seems to have stirred up stories involving the loss of Al Fernandez in JdV’s precinct in Bonuan Binloc.

It’s unthinkable for an imagine coalition of forces to just ensure a Lim victory in Dagupan. All, well, about 85 percent of the Dagupan families have made a pact to effect much needed reforms in the city.

Naksawan laray totoo, agagui, inalala ran amin.

Ni, talora ra lamuet! Taloran Lim means MadiLIM tan MakuLIMLIM!

Kaskasian laray taga Dagupan!

We hope the New Year will really turn in a new leaf, for the good and prosperity of Dagupan.

What! BSL will work on Gina? We doubt if she would succumb to any deal. Mala Princess Urduja yan. Ag ompalag itan. We Dagupenos believe in her leadership and constancy.

Mabuhay, Gina, unbeatable pa yan!

NOTES: You were looking for Alvin Fernandez? Well, here’s our tip. He is in Tarlac, studying law at a local law college there. He wants to be a lawyer, ahead of Brian Lim, who is struggling to be a lawyer himself.
