General Ver’s formula

By Gonzalo Duque

MEDIA in Action had stellar guests last Thursday – Mayor Nani Braganza of Alaminos City and General Art Lomibao.

Running as teammate for governor and vice governor under the Liberal Party, they presented their platform of good governance for the province.

When we asked Nani if he would continue the good work incumbent Gov. Amado Espino Jr. has started, he said “not only to continue but enhance it.”

Good luck na lang sa inyo! And Merry Christmas!

Kapitan Jake Reyes of Barangay Tapuac, Dagupan City should be congratulated for his many accomplishments – minus, of course, the stinking garbage near the barangay hall. We hope he’ll find a solution soon.

Thru his initiative, Phil Health corporation has put up an office in Barangay Tapuac… He, too, has put up a Police Community Precinct in collaboration with Police Chief Bog Caramat and Rep. Gina de Venecia. (kaya lang alingwanan nen Nelson Sotto kuno!)

Very soon, the DCNHS’ Alumni building is about to be inaugurated. Unlike before, Tapuac is now flood-free, we mean, the new-elevated highway is now beyond the reach of floodwaters. And you can all see the mushrooming clusters of new business establishment everywhere in Brgy. Tapuac!

Mabuhay ka, Kap. Jake!

Tapuac’s growth is unstoppable, all the way to Brgy. Lucao, the emerging motorists’ hub in the city.

Someone told us the season is not good for dirty business, we mean, politics. We agree.

For this reason, we remember three persons who are devoted to our wellness or upkeep of our health.

We start with a very competent and pretty lady doctor–Isabelita Siapno, a specialist on diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Beloved wife to Kuya Romy Siapno, Doktora Bel has her clinic on Perez Blvd that’s always full of patients, a testimony to her excellent credentials.

The other physician is Dr. Robin Navarro who is also a Bible scholar and whose medical and wellness proficiency is based on medical and scientific research and spirituality. His advocacy of plenty of eggs, bulalo and disdain of pork, fish without scales and fins are Biblical and medically proven.

Third doctor is the director of Region 1 Medical Center-Roland Mejia. Under his leadership, R1MC is ready to house a 12-storey building yearly next year, thanks to Rep. Gina de Venecia and hubby, former speaker Jose de Venecia, and DOH Sec. Enrique Ona.

He will start soon a medical forum on the air over Aksyon Radyo “Itanong mo kay Doktor” in Collaboration with Pangasinan Press Club. Libre la ray PPC members! We are eyeing the entire 3rd floor to become a mini clinic and accumulate patients for free consultation – and possibly same medicines.

We heard this jueteng brouhaha in the province had its origin from a misunderstanding between the children of Gov. Spines and Bugallon Mayor Rod Orduña. Is that so? Masiado met ya atatapew, agagui.

In our view, it’s deeper than that.

This reminds us of a formula used by then President Marcos in deciding who to appoint as his AFP chief of staff.

The three contenders were Generals Josephus Ramos, Fidel Ramos and Fabian Ver. The brilliant Dictator called his confident Gen. Balbino Diego to conduct a simple but tricky contest. Each aspirant was brought to a vacant room and asked, “2 plus 2 plus 2 plus 4.”

First to be tested was Gen. Ramos. It took him almost five minutes to answer, sensing that there’s a catch to it. He finally blurted “Ten, sir!”

“What do you think,” FM asked Diego, who meekly answered, “Accurate but slow.”’

Then came the town of FVR who snapped “Ten, sir” Diego again told FM, “Accurate, fast!” FM nodded approvingly.

General Ver was next, who said, “Ten, sir, five for e, five for you!”

On the spot, Ver got appointed chief of staffs.

Sicaton sicayo ran man-aapagan, always observe fairness, and you get what you want.
