Beware the curse of Magsaysay
By Gonzalo Duque
WE had a group of visiting tourists over the weekend. One of them was full of praises to our city officials especially Mayor Benjie Lim for changing the face of the city with beautiful buildings. He was impressed by the appearance of Fortune, Makiyaki, Inasal and others in front of the city hall.
But when told that the particular area was the old Magsaysay Park his smiling face turned to a frown, anger and hate. “Hindi ba national Park yan…beyond the commerce of man?” Niparukan so mama, kanayon na aray Guadiz manaya.
He said he remembered the time when Mayor Teofilo Guadiz, who was known to be incorruptible fought with all his might a proposal that was being deliberated by the City Council to convert the park into a market.
The mayor walked from the city hall to the bust of Magsaysay and embraced it to dramatize his protest to the City Council (now Sangguniang panlungsod) measure. So anto ey, mga agagui, reason, the law prevailed! Sicayo ran atateng, lake, bae, amta yo ya, anto? Now what did the present administration do to that place, to the memory of a most beloved President?
What did mayor Lim do to our national treasure? Amto ya la seguro. What he did was most unconscionable! He put up his own business establishments. Lately, he opened a modern cocktail lounge atop Makiyaki! Onaalaguey so bago na laman ko ta ni nonoton agtayo nagawa tay graben ingkagahaman! Ay, manermen so inararon former President Magsaysay! Aliwa labat ya kasibletan, kasakiman tan sankagrabiaan ya panaginsulto ed memoriay model public servant! Kinamkam to ni parad sikaton dili! Awey pala no anton klasen karma so ondapod sayan too! Payaman lan payaman, maong labat kumon no legal!
We were talking to old Dagupenos. Grabe panayew da ed ginawa ed Magsaysay Park. Seguro palampasen da tan no say toon nampalaguey ay aga kabaleyan, kaciudadan. Ni, amay baley so nangawa!
This is the height of all desecrations because the beneficiary is no less than the father (kuno) of the city.
Amtayo, agagui, wala ray amimigo tayon “gifted.” Say kwanda mairap ya gatin gatinan so maong ya memorial ta maksel so karma to. They call it “curse.” Manalwara ira tay walay makapoy ya ginawa da. Aratay guilty, bisitaen ira no pegley labi diad kalimelay bolan insan makarengel ira na ogaog ya “moooomooo.” Bisitaen to kayo nen Magsaysay! Mankobot kilay baleg ya oles ta goyoren to tay Sali yo!
As deadline nears, we were in Rosales to locate the Office of the Ombudsman. Here is good news to the corrupt. Agni manaya functional so upisina. It may take some time to get it working. Sigue, aratay korap, paspasan yo ni aktividades yo. We intend to see our brods in Manila where we can file graft cases vs. you know who.

Since 3 or so weeks ago when we wrote about Pedritos’ Chicken Inasal, this columnist suffered the sad experience of consumed stock. Each time we would order a piece of that yummy piece, we were told “ubos na sir.” Panon to met ya Linda, agko naawit dia may friend ya paborito to yan lutom, lagi ng ubos na. (Linda is observing her birthday on July 15). Panon to kasi?
We have a date with Pres. Obama’s staff next week. Anyway, we felicitate our friend Linda Mujer for staying pretty. That guy who wins her smile really deserves a pat on the back.

From the grapevine, we got this newsbit.
Exasperated by manhid City Administrator Vlad Mata’s playing deaf to City Auditor Celi’s pleas for a joint effort to answer the pile of issues filed against the city government, the beleaguered lady went straight to the COA in Q.C. para magsumbong. The next scene was a fuming Vlad cursing hell.
What is the lesson here? Beware a woman’s fury.
