A Kabaleyan’s Thoughts…

What Do You Think?

By S. Bill Jimenez

THINK! What do you think? Our perspective in life is always colored by what we think. As the wise man says, “For as he thinks within himself, so he is” (Proverbs 23:7). And Rene Descartes also said, “I think, therefore I am.”
Thinking is sometimes neglected as a human resource. That’s why we often hear people recognizing their fault and say, “Why did I do that? I was not thinking!” We therefore need to Pray, Think and Act (PTA). Praying is the best way to begin thinking.
King Solomon, when he started to rule over Israel, prayed: “Please make me wise and teach me the difference between right and wrong. Then I will know how to rule your people” (1 Kings 3:9).
Thinking is a noble exercise. It transcends the ordinary and common. For as Jean Jacques Rousseau has said, “It is difficult to think nobly when we only think to get a living.” Francis Bacon, who said “Knowledge is power,” also observed that “Reading makes a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact man.” It is indeed great to read good materials to improve our thinking. Writing what we think is likewise advisable, for it crystallizes even more an idea.
So what do you think? Let’s pray with faith and hope that our thinking is generally and largely influenced by our God and His Word.
