Think about it
This ambassador behaves like a beast

“The height of a man is measured from the neck up.” — Carlos P. Romulo
SHROUDED by the eloquence and articulateness of two stellar speakers (soon-to-be Senator Joey de Venecia III and unorthodox doctor Robin Navarro) a bombshell was dropped by a former staff of a United Arab Emirates Embassy at a breakfast forum at the Aloha Hotel last week.
The audience for awhile was glued to Joey’s machine gun peroration of certain cellphone companies’ malpractice of over charging their millions of customers’ not too clever (what a way to make millions, huh?) and Robin’s stunning thesis of ancient cures for modern man.
When everyone thought the forum was all over, a guest brought by Gen. Lito Gerangco (remember him?) asked to be heard. Speaking softly but audibly, Ms. Lily Elizabeth Uncanin, made a gripping narrative of a humiliating and harrowing experience of two Filipina domestic helpers at their employer-ambassador at the Shangrila Hotel.
She showed sworn affidavits and letters addressed to Philippine and UAE officials about the indecent and insulting sexual harassments inflicted by Ambassador Moosa Abdulwashid Alkhajkah on two DHs. His modus operandi was to call the duo at different times to his hotel suite (during office hours and sometimes up to the wee hours of the morning) “to perform body massage on him while he was only in his underwear.” If they refused to implement the Ambassador’s lecherous sexual advances, the DH was ordered to leave and pack up. The two helpless victims who are from Zamboanga have resigned (naturally!). Lily’s case, on the other hand, was an account of an unlawful termination brought about by calling their attention to reports of an amorous affair between the ambassador and his secretary.
Lily said Philippine and UAE officials including Senator Loren Legarda, Foreign relations chair; H.E. Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayad Bin Sultan Al Nahyan have been alerted about the affront on Philippine honor —right in our country!—- but no action has been taken up to this time. The incident or incidents have hit the scene while the Philippine government had declared a Panamanian diplomat Erick Bairnals Sheks persona non grata.
This UAE ambassador should be kicked out and declared persona non grata, too.
What further abuse and humiliations will our countrymen suffer from beastly foreigners?
The answer, we submit, should come from the national leadership. In point of fact, what Lily reported no longer should no longer surprise us. They are too common and dime a dozen.
Abuses and humiliations on Filipinas abroad and hereabouts have become a commonplace. No less than in the world lexicon, “Filipina” has even come to mean prostitute, and our countrymen protesting the inclusion of the word in the dictionary seem to have clammed up.
We pray and urge our bachelor President to take the first and resolute step to restore Filipina’s dignity in substance and public image once and for all.

This uproar over the bullying by China of puny Philippines should be approached with extreme caution by our government and the media. The reason is obvious.
We had at close range engaged top Chinese journalists — in fact, their cream of the crop — during a Philippine National Press Club and an All China Journalists Association meeting in Beijing more than a couple of years back. We found them a tough nut to crack, appearing cordial and low key, but, if you are not careful, they may be pulling the rug from under your feet.
The proposed strategy is to engage them in a high level talk, with smart, unblinking, shrewd but friendly Philippine delegates.
We should nail them to the talk table with the power of logic, proof and charm, and never to get upset by their show of power. Since they too are smart, there’s one solution God has endowed us with: love. It’s a tool of the angels, and as the Holy Book instructs, no one can beat love’s power. It could melt Big Bully’s heart.
Otherwise, use the power of David’s slingshot. Unleash your shot with precision, confidence and the scientific method based on knowledge of the enemy, his strength and weakness. It’s still knowledge game, and the knowledge expert will always have the edge. It’s not good to underestimate the little man.
The great Carlos P. Romulo, who rules the United Nations during the war, said, “the height of a man is measured from the neck up.”
