We need more hotels in Dagupan
By Gonzalo Duque
DURING Holy Week, let’s stop attacking our pet peeves. That’s unholy.
What we should do, let’s love; if we haven’t done that yet, let’s start loving now. Not loving in the sexual sense ha, but in the filial, Christian way. Did not Jesus say “love one another?” That’s what we mean.
Let’s think of and cleanse our souls. There’s no other way if we mean to go to heaven.

Thank you, Rep. Gina de Venecia for your quick response to our request for a Community Police Precinct in Barangay Tapuac. This column is also thanking you in behalf of Kapitan Jake Reyes.
Oh yes, for the public’s information, the precinct is located at the Dagupan City National High School.
At the rate she is going, Gina is assured of re-election if she runs again. But we heard that it’s former Speaker Joe who is running.
Maong ta wala ray onyan kabaleyan awa? Ag ira nakekesawan!
As for us, sosto layay mankolum ed Punch tan mangimanehoy escuelaan. Makapakesaw, agagui! Let’s doff our hats to our durable public servants.

One sore thumb emerged from the successful education summit last week. We need more hotel facilities.
That’s the common observation of those who attended. And with the Bangus fest around the corner, this need would again be felt.
Let’s hope Gov. Spines, Mayor Benjie and Vice Mayor Belen and the other LGU leaders hereabouts would be able to get their act together to fill this yawning need.
Our LNU started one hotel project, with 48 rooms. It’s a modest contribution, but we did something. How about the moneyed people here? Tulong kimet agagui? .
Our wish is for the LGUs here to give incentives to business establishments that will put up hotels. It’s sine qua non to economic progress.

We wish to thank the Fund Assistance for Private Education (FAPE) headed by Dr. Carolina Porio and the Catholic Educational Assn., of the Philippines (CEAP) headed by Fr. Greg Bango of Adamson College (BSL’s alma mater) and APSCU headed by Engr. Mackv Samson for their support that made the summit a success.
Why are we talking as if we were the summit’s frontman? No, we just thank everyone for their patronage of our LNU particularly the Dr. Salvador Duque Field House where the summit was held.
Actually, we were merely saling pusa to serve as venue, because the original slated venue was the Stadia, which was under repair.
Our “savior” role also happened last year when the People’s Astrodome was to be the venue of the new nurses’ oath taking. The astrodome was used as a refugee and disaster center due to the typhoon.
Lagi tayong pantakop botas, a role we have learned to like.

What’s this we heard that Benjie’s people were against Belen giving medals to DSWD workshop graduates?
The reason is, kasi may ibinibigay ni si Bsl na medalya! Hmm, no, agkayo mantatalusan, iter yo lad siak ta piyan naaromay medalyak.
Kayo rin. Agtipala pankokokolan itan, mga agagui. Ni, nitan lay North Korea ay ta labay to lan bomba ey mondo na nuclear. Ay por Dios! Mukhang agto antakot so US tan UN!
Take cover!
