BSL, Belen in heart-to-heart talk mode

By Gonzalo Duque

THE month of March, particularly March 15, to some people, is a tragic one.

It was the date Julius Caesar was brutally murdered by his own people led by Brutus. Most of you are familiar with that Shakespearean play.

But in some people’s book, the date is a lucky day, in fact, the luckiest, if you ask the feng shui believers because it marks the appearance of the Three Stars. The Chinese say that it’s the best time to start a business project.

This must the reason why Mayor Mark Macanlalay and company inaugurated the imposing Robinson Mall on March l5.

We weren’t there, but our friend, Jess de Guzman told us there was a big crowd of people who came. We could already imagine the Calasiao folk feeling like they were in Cloud 9 and, well, well, laughing at us, Dagupenos.

Why laughing at us? Because, antam Manny Baby, jad Dagupoan kumon so angipaalageyan datan e. Dakkel so ngos ngos balungos da ray opisyales. Alewa so agenda ra.

Let’s hope we don’t have the same experience with regard to the SM group. We understand they are about to construct one, too, in Dagupan. Hmm, nitan kila, agyo laya sasapoen agagui.

We also hope that if some people here again try to block it, it won’t be because of politics or business. Although that seems to be the common denominator in the city’s big business.

If these known officials don’t change their ways, expect SM to rise say, Mangaldan or Calasiao, again, or maybe Binmaley. Inatey lamet so Dagupan.

Sayang so baleg ya bwis agagui. Millions!

Say maong amo, with the Lenten season around the corner, let’s ask Benjie and Belen to reflect deeply.

No naetbanan yo ya, balbaleg so pasnok na om baley ed sicayo!

We heard from a little birdie that BSL and Belen had a long heart-to-heart talk at the mayor’s office last Thursday. That’s good, but if the topic is to block SM, ay, madi, makapoy, makapasinagem.

By the way, someone told us that Mayor Hermie Romero is courting SM. Nitan la may ibabaga nen Jess.

This is a fair warning to our two top Dagupan officials.

Back to March 15, our LNU opened on that date some new facilities with no less than Regional Ched Director Caridad Abuan and Archbishop Socrates Villegas as main guests.

The new facilities are a new student lounge, multipurpose hall, new football field and new health and science building, and a new accounting office and the facade of the admin building.

We awarded on that day outstanding alumni who excelled in their fields. This early, we want to inform you that we shall hold an annual homecoming of these awardees with alumni association officials starting next year.

Ope Reyna surprised us with a visit recently. He asked us to sponsor at least 10 scholars from the alumni of the Dagupan City National High School. We told him instead of 4-year courses, it’s better to give them special skills courses, like welding, electrical, auto mechanic, care giving, HRM and the like.

You see, Ope, the bright ones go to UP or state u’s where tuition is low. It’s the singkolars who need assistance.

Ope was nodding. Panginter mo met na duaran skolar si Manny.

The city will host the K2 Plus 12 Educational Summit for Regions l, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region and part of Region 4 under the auspices of the Catholic Ass’n of the Philippines and Fund Assistance for Private Education and APSCU.

This is great. You see, activities like this are held in Baguio City, but Education Sec. Luistro want to try other places like Pangasinan.  Proposed venue is the Salvador Duque Field House.

According to Dr. Macky Samson, APSCU prexy, and Dr. Marina Abella, some l,000 delegates are expected .
