Beware of the fire (works) next time

By Gonzalo Duque

GOODBYE 2011, welcome 2012!

The year just passed was, to some, was full of achievements.

President Pnoy is blowing his tops saying it marked the high marks for his crusade against corruption.

Ok, let’s give it to him. Ma-sustained sana. We wish him luck.

In Pangasinan, Guv Spines is visibly on cloud nine. Halata ang kanyang dambuhalang tuwa at galak, lalo na nang maraming pastors na nag-camp sa Don Narciso Sports at Sison Auditorium who wished him well to continue the good things he has started in the province.

Many heard Pastor Jun Fermill of the End Times believers told this corner how he cited the governor’s accomplishments. Mabuhay ka, Guv.

As far as our own press club is concerned, ehem… ehem… alam ninoy naman ang record. We gave our local media a new face. Dapat sabintan tayo ng medalya ni Pnoy e, kasi nilalabanan din natin ang corruption sa medya, di ba, dear colleagues?

For all this, we thank all of you… for your support to the local press, and well, also for our beloved Guvnor, who is doing well.

Antoya Butch, na dodoble lay trabajom amo?  Ni angapo ni Krismas me nen  ermanom! he he!

In Dagupan City, memedyo balansiado, it had its good and bad times. This because the mayor and vice mayor couldn’t make up their minds if they are for public or business welfare. The general public is affected one way or the other.

In general, the year was ok, very okay. Let’s drink to that, ladies and gentlemen

Happy New Year!

There’s one prickly item we’d like to tackle here per advice of elder brod Cesar concerning the president of Colegio de Dagupan involving a transaction that went awry.

In the spirit of the season, we have refused to blow this up, but we wish to state here that fairness should be observed at all times, and we won’t hesitate to meet the issue head-on if called for.

It seems Colegio de Dagupan is getting wrong advice from unscrupulous persons and so we wish to remind him that at least in this column, we only have master — the truth and justice.

We won’t go into details (yet) to allow him room to reexamine his conscience and deal with his confreres in accordance with the highest tenets of fair play and the truth.  No amount of alibis or claims of a non-existing transaction kuno will erase a person’s culpability.

We assure him, the supposed honorable Voltaire, that we know how to deal with anyone of this kind. He should watch out for our column next week.

We hope what started as friendship won’t end badly and sadly. But we can give the fireworks if needed, and that’s exactly what we will do if this matter will not get its proper due under the circumstances.

             That we will assure you.

            En garde, Sir Voltaire!
