“Promises, promises, promises”

By Gonzalo Duque

WE had an interesting talk with Barangay Tapuac Chairman Jake Reyes over the weekend.

Interesting because he revealed a most welcome balita — Rep. Gina de Venecia thru her Countrywide Development Fund will finish off the chronic and exasperating flooding of our barangay. Bravo!

Jake, an orig cumpadre of JdV being ninong to his first born son Leo (the other ninongs and ninangs were the late then Mayor Opring Manaois, then Vice Gov. Nancy Sison and husband Porfiro, a former justrice, former vice mayor Manding Fernandez, Meme Meneses, Greg Gaerlan, Jun Velasco, etc) is emphatic about Gina delivering the goods in due time.

Rainwater on that portion called Dr. Francisco Duque Road usually reached the waist even with a little downpour.

Sana magawa na ito at utang ng mga taga Tapuac kay Jake at Gina pag solved na ito. Mabuhay kayo!

It was fun and we’re grateful to be invited at the birthday party of Aurelio Reyes, Jake’s younger brother, at the Star Plaza last week.

We asked Aurelio, who is based in Chicago, to introduce certain systems that would improve the city of Dagupan in delivering basic services.

At his juncture, we remember the much-touted Police Community Precinct project of Gina that seems stuck in the drawing board. Her assistant Nelson Sotto kept promising it will soon be done.

We dedicate Dionne Warwick’s song “Promises, Promises, Promises” to Nelson.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez got her doctorate degree from the University of Luzon. Congrats! Kayo talaga, Maki and Chito ha, inunahan nyo naman ang LNU!.

Anyway, it’s a well-deserved honor for Belen, a hardworking vice mayor.

Ampeta petang ya tipak parad Belen!

It’s been a long time that FVR hasn’t come to the province. The launching of his book last Friday is a fresh breeze for him and for his provincemates.

Our friend, Mel Velasco, helped FVR finish the book.

Mabuhay, Apo Eddie! Congrats Guv’nor Spines for this great and momentous project.

Tidbits: entrepreneur Josephine Corleto-Pineda has successfully introduced a yummy drink, “Buko Overload,” – a happy mix of buko’s fleshy meat, juice and sugar.

A refreshing health drink for the kids, young and old. Try it and you’ll feel like heaven.
