‘The truth shall set you free.’

BISHOP Socrates Villegas literally “socked it” to President Pnoy what he sought to make of him as a great, or at least, a good chief of state during the joint induction of officers of four Rotary clubs last week.
A close friend of the Aquino family, he should be the last to make “bola” to Pnoy. He said (to this effect):” Pnoy should not just have integrity; he should have a vision for the country.”
See what we mean? Our spiritual adviser and namesake of the father of philosophy himself, Socrates of Greece just issued a wake-up call to the President. His message was so perfect it was editorialized in the Manila papers—Philippine Star and Manila Standard Today.
His call is so timely because we have many hair-raising headlines these days — the Ampatuans, Bedols and the like. The voices seem to call for the total crush of former President GMA. Ano ba to? If we know, all this orchestration against GMA, if you ask us, ay singa labat lakamas to.
That’s why she fielded Atty. Raul Lambino to handle her legal cases. We’re not saying Raul is not good, but she has a battery of more experienced ones. Hey, hindi ba lawyer din ni JdV si Raul?
Anto ya, pare Jun V, para na naman tayong Confucius? Kasi magkalaban sina GMA at JDV di ba? NBN-ZTE case kuanmo pa!
Ok, we said lakamasen nen GMA rayay Administration lawyers. She said si Raul lang, kayang kaya na niya mga yan!
Bakit kaya Raffy Baraan is smiling. Hindi ba siya bilib kay Raul?
Back to Bishop Soc and his report that for Pnoy to be a really functioning and great president, he should show us his road map for a progressive Philippines. No less than FVR said so many times over.
We hope his SONA tomorrow will spell it out… not just a daang matuwid, but a road map to progress!
In point of fact, we supported him in the last elections. You all who have been following our column know that. Salamat na lang kay bosing Ermin, at pinayagan tayo. Sigue sirin Pnoy. You have our support and prayers. But be very careful, nandyan lang si Vice President Jojo Binay who is “wetting.”

We read a news item in the Punch last week with the head “SP endorses city’s new corporate seal.” Parang mali a, Mayor BSL?
Take it from our artist laureate Alex Villaflor. Last week, he came to Dagupan purposely to present a tattered copy of the original and registered seal of Dagupan dated 1948 yet. It bore the signatures of then Executive Secretary Teodoro Evangelista and Technical Consultant and Acting Secretary of the Philippine Heraldry Committee Gilbert S. Perez.
This means the designing of a new seal, which was endorsed, according to the news item, by the Sangguniang Bayan was uncalled- for, because the reason advanced it was that the old one was not registered.
Some people were misled. Sus! You’d be accused of distorting history. Magagalit ang batas niyan! Pati ang Diyos magagalit because the claim was a lie. Even the Philippine Historical Commission could be charged with perjury it really made the claim that no Dagupan seal was registered.
Better correct the anomaly. Let’s be truthful always. We quote the famous philosopher, Socrates, “No man is to be reverenced more than the truth.”
