Vlad Mata back in action

THERE’S a kind of plus all over the land, and it’s incumbent upon all of us to be in step and sustain the joyful tune.
In case you’d mistake our words for a popular ditty, no, we are simply catching the light mood, thanks to the new government assiduously pushing for things good and well.
But first, let’s go down to brass tacks.
Our hopes and dreams should be defined in cold blood, in scientific, economic terms. Even how nobly intentioned President Nonoy and his team are to lead the odyssey to the “promised land,” they will have to grapple with the nuts and bolts of governance.
The working team is not perfect, and the workplace is littered with spikes, humps, landmines and some outright pools of discontent.
In the homefront, we are locked in battle with local bosses of vested interest. Por ejemplo, how can we start dismantling Dagupan’s killjoy fishpens when several hands have joined the illegal group? What looked simple has become complicated, resulting in inaction and a prescription for chronic pass-the-buck syndrome.
The Binmaley feat – thanks to a single-minded resolve by a gifted mayor (Enzo Cerezo) – is different because not too many interests are involved.
At the next bend of the road cumpadre columnist Ani Lagao has been nursing a broken heart on the unsolved case of his son who has disappeared two years ago. Yes, just like that. Probers have established the cause – illicit drugs – but knowing the character of our police, are we surprised that the case couldn’t be solved?
While we bear with the divisive nature of regime-change, let’s play our roles, not just to stand and wait but help make things happen.

Dagupenos are happy to see handsome Vlad Mata, a former councilor, as city administrator, who will provide the Lim administration a fresh and smiling approach in implementing local ordinances.
Why, is the be-dimpled Mayor Lim serious-looking these days?
Vlad, our marital ijado, has a meteoric rise in public service that was dented only by a defeat in a vice mayoral race against the popular Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, who also recently vanquished another councilor Pacoy Torio.
Vlad, who looks like a European, is married to the former Midori Yamamoto, a Japanese beauty. They have two children, so far.
Over in Barangay Bonuan Gueset, we have never seen a more workaholic village chief than Kapitan Angel Gumarang.
His additional jobs as PRISSA commissioner and SBP technical commission head of Pangasinan, CFRMC chair and interim director of the Philippine Korea food processing plant and watchman of our marine resources should fit him to a T in push the bangus industry free of illegal fish pens.
