Playing with Fire
Ty, Governor Spines
By Gonzalo Duque
WITH the grand opening of classes, we are met anew with the usual sob issues, name it we have it.
Because we are on the education front, we are familiar with certain Smart Alecks the likes of the clever variety which exhibit martyrdom with paid ads emblazoned on streamers “No tuition fee Increase” only to exact vengeance on miscellaneous fees. Call it unfair competition, but it is an ugly fact of life in our society.
Let’s hope the advent of a new government will somehow correct this situation and put an end to a reign of insult and avarice.

Finally, we received our official appointment from Governor Spines on the no mean and historic task to write the history of Pangasinan.
Salamat, Apo Gobernador. It is an exhilarating, tough but historic assignment, and we are flattered no end.
At the same time, we are anxious as to how competently we’d deliver the goods. Right now, we are drawing up a grand plan on how to go about it. The job is not as simple as it may seem. But we remain inspired by the trust our favorite Governor has reposed on us.
Mas mainomay ni mankandidato amo awa pare Jun?
This history writing task would require research, effort and accurate recording and writing of the grand odyssey of our province’s past and present — against which its future is predicated. We need all the support from you Gov and from every talent in town—and most of all your prayers.

This weekly reminder by the punch on page 1 obviously to secure action on specific community problems, oversights, flaws, loopholes and now specifically on the city government’s failure to prosecute the illegal fish pen operators has remained unheeded by concerned authorities.
We like to think that part of Mayor-elect Benjie Lim’s winning in the last elections was due to this illegal fish pen issue.
Mukhang “callous” na ang concerned authorities, City Agriculturist Emma Molina particularly, in weeding out this insulting anomaly.
Let’s see how she comports herself under the glaring eyes of Benjie Lim who is known to be against illegal fish pens.
Ito ang hirap sa taong gising. Babangonen tayo amta manaya abayag lan akamolagat! Anto yan klasen pinalsa a, Kuya Apring? Ginawa tilan amin so pulaing angapon talaga! Manhid! Aga ambaing?Alis diyan!

Orly Navarro you might want to enrich his “punchlines” collection with this by Ben Diansay:
“Corruption exists only when you are not a part of it.”
“Di tayo humihingi pero nasasalit pag di magbigay.”
And here is the coup the grace,
“Walang mahirap kung walang corrupt.”
