All sound in fury signifying nothing

By Gonzalo Duque

MORE than nine texters endorsed our column article last week denouncing the arrogant defiance by the City Agriculturist, Emma Molina, of the public clamor to identify the illegal fishpen operators in our city.

One texter (name withheld upon request) said: “Papaano e-identify ni Mam Molina e, she is in cahoots!” The texter came out with names we are all familiar with, but we leave it to the good sense of Ms. Molina to answer this.

Another texter (REM): “If Dagupan will be flooded again, hold City Hall accountable!”

The others were suggesting prosecution of city officials “kasi in-admit na ni City Agriculturist Emma Molina na 50% of Dagupan fish pens are illegal.”

Ay, katawan, napataan kumoy botayong si Ms. Molina piano nalinawaan. Sabi nila “mahirap gisingin ang taong gising.” Hmmm… naatotan kayo kumoy karol!

Have you seen the movie, “Enemy of the People?”

There’s this reporter in a community who refuted everybody’s belief that water in a river could cure all illnesses. Everybody brutalized him because he was changing their belief, attitude, and lifelong held belief system.

The journalist did a study-research and came out with a finding that the water had no curative effect. Worse, it was full of bacteria, toxins and damaging substance.

The journalist was persecuted to death by people who were bigots.

How many of us are like that journalist?

While we are writing this column we received a report that thousands of bangus died of fish kill in Sitio Tocok in Barangay Lucao. You can verify the data from Manoling Sandoval and Dag Jose, fishermen in Tocok. You see, these are true-to-life situations in which fishermen who have been working very hard to preserve the bangus industry in Dagupan are helpless. Ang masama nito yoong mga legal at legitimate fish pen operators ay nabibiktima rin ng fish kill.

What is this, Mayor Al?

And then, you say, the City will have once again a bacchanalian feast while our poor fishermen, the legit ones, suffer. Where is fairness and justice here? We liken the bangusan and all the big noise as, to quote William Shakespeare, “All sound and fury signifying nothing.

Help!

As the countdown to the May 10 election comes near, Filipinos are gravitating to the presidential bid of Noynoy Aquino.

If you ask us, it is already anti-climatic Panalo na. Anytime this week, FVR and Joe de Venecia will join the Noynoy bandwagon. So what else is new? The biggest problem facing Noynoy Aquino today is that the whole machinery of fraud and deceit is ranged against him. Noynoy’s followers and sympathizers are now preparing to thwart, prevent, block and obliterate the most organized machinery to frustrate the people’s will. Sana tumulong na si FVR on this account. He still has clout over the military. The priests, bishops, professionals, teachers and the common people have suddenly realized this.

Magtulongan  na tayo para hindi lalapastanganin ng mga ka alyado ng kadiliman ang eleksyon matalo si Noynoy. We are however sure that the Filipino people will not allow a wrongdoing to happen. Our appeal: come out and be counted in guarding the ballot.
