Joey 3 adopts fund-raising drive US – style

LAST Pangasinenses saw and pressed the hand of Jun Ebdane was when he was feeling his way to the presidency.
Jun, a half Pangasinense by his marriage to Alma Cabanayan of San Nicolas town, dropped the big plan and opted to “come home” which is Zambales, home to the best loved President, Ramon Magsaysay, the country has had.
Jun Ebdane is running for governor against incumbent Amor Deloso.
If you ask us, the Zambales option will be his first en route to a larger plan in public service. His monicker, “Kalsada,” is a tribute to his performance as road builder.
Wish him luck.

Senators Noynoy Aquino, Mar Roxas and their entourage are coming to Dagupan on Tuesday, which coincides with the first leg of cycling races called “Noynoy Na Takbo Na” organized by Oscar Orbos and Jess Garcia.
Re-electionist Mayor Al Fernandez, Noynoy’s man in Dagupan, must be ecstatic knowing his constituents’ legendary love for the cycling sport.
According to our neighbor Gonz, the Aquino-Roxas team is topping the surveys all over the land including Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, Third District congressional bet Galant Soriano, also of the LP, predicts that Noynoy will score the highest in his district.
Ditto with Nani Braganza of Alaminos.
We restate what we wrote about Noynoy sometime in the past, “A vote for Noynoy is a vote against graft and corruption. No one among the presidentiables can claim the same with a straight face.”
Noynoy and Al, by the way, are old allies because of their parents, the late Ninoy being a staunch Liberal, and the late for Mayor Alipio Fernandez Sr., a local party pillar.
Not only that. Al is by affinity a Tarlacqueno of whom Noynoy is a great son.
Jess Garcia, Filipino cyclists’ great “provider,” says the cycling sport is the best crowd getter in Pangasinan.

At the fund-raising concert of Joey de Venecia III at Strumms in Makati City, we saw Rep. Joe de V in a huddle with former OWWA administrator Wilhelm Soriano and his wife Leah.
It seems Bebong was whispering to JdV his anxiety over younger brod Galant’s chances of winning because of the so-called FVR factor, whatever that means.
His plea, “let Rachel and Galant fight their own battle, and may the best man win.”
We told him there’s only one-man bet in the 3rd district. He smiled, “mabuti.”
At the fund-raising, you’d be surprised hundreds of supporters showed up and turned in several hundreds of pesos to Joey’s campaign kitty.
Here’s one campaign where a candidate receives rather than gives money to ensure his victory. It’s unusual in this country.
For his part, JdV was as usual at his eloquent best in his short but meaty talk.
