Al and Benjie remind us of Jaycee politics

By Jun Velasco

IT rained hard Friday afternoon in Pampanga, Bulacan and some parts of Metro Manila.

Readily, the common folk felt it like a blessing from heaven.

A downpour of joy into their parched hearts.

Hope it will just be rain on our sun-scorched earth. Flood fears, you know, still hurt our memories.

We were meaning to sit with Prof. Jimmy Licauco, the paranormal scholar with the 3rd eye, for another look at the Mayan Calendar forecast.

You see, there have been of late unusual occurrences in the weather worldwide, killing thousands of lives and causing billions worth of properties lost.

The much talked about realignment of the planets has reportedly started in 2008 and would climax or end in 2012, particularly on Dec. 12.

Pray that God Almighty   would save mankind from forthcoming cataclysms.  But let’s deserve his tireless and boundless blessings.

The recent March edition of the Reader’s Digest has a special report about the Philippines most trusted persons.

Its list is topped by Rosa Rosal, Lea Salonga, Jessica Soho, Tony Meloto and Benigno Aquino III.

The name of Manny Villar is listed in Number 60. PGMA is # 76 while Erap is # 79.

Care to know who is in number 80? Hayden Kho.

The AL Fernandez-Benjie Lim affair is like the proverbial leadership fight in the Jaycees.

Both, as we all know, are popular, intelligent, shrewd, and logistically equipped. The peculiar part is their allies, supporters; kibitzers come from the same group, formerly dominated by the Jaycees.

That’s why their supporters are playing hide and seek.

The issues revolve around Benjie’s main line of attack that Al has failed to deliver while Al accuses his foe for misuse of public funds.

In our book, they each have the makings of a good leader, in contrast to Gonzalo Duque’s thesis that they have flunked his test because neither has built a city hall worth Dagupeños pride.

At the University of Luzon beauty pageant Thursday evening, the contestants were asked whom would they want to lead the country after GMA.

Their answers narrowed down to two l. Ninoy Aquino and 2. Whoever will do something to put an end to graft and corruption. They had only Noynoy in mind? Baka nag ppr  sila kay Atchi Au kasi maka Noynoy.

About 5000 students and professors witnessed the pageant that was won by Alannah Cuison, granddaughter of College of Engineering Dean Flor Cuison.
