Where’s Dagupan City Hall?
By Gonzalo Duque
DAGUPEÑOS and Dagupeñas want us to vote for either Al Fernandez or Benjie Lim.
If you are asking us, we’d say, sorry, none of the above!
Why, well, basic, we have no handsome city hall to speak of Benjie and Al have had stints as mayor. Did they ever take any initiative to rehabilitate or construct a new city hall building?
Mayor Al, don’t tell us our new city hall building is your private fishpond farm in Barangay Bacayao Norte.
Naku ha, kayong dalawa, Benjie at Al! So, on the issue of a much needed city hall building, pareho silang dalawa.
In our very serious view, we’d rather push for Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez as our next mayor, knowing her work ethic. With Belen, the city hall project would be realizable. It’s a pity that because she is beholden to Al, she chose to run for vice mayor. Take a hard look at Belen, sigurado lan man-meyor yan in any election. We will not say anything about the vice mayoral fight. Pacoy Torio is a friend, but we really doubt if he has a fighting chance against Belen.
Well, we sometimes believe in miracles. Baka manalo sa San Carlos City.

The illegal fish pens issue is the Achilles Heel of Mayor Al Fernandez. The Punch has been running a People-to-People page one reminder about the nagbibingi-bingihan City Agriculturist’s office to the query, “Name the illegal fishpen operators in the city.” It’s a simply query.
Why does Ms. Molina not give her reply? You see, we have hundreds of fishpens in our rivers. They make our rivers ugly – and dirty, toxic (to the fish) and traffic hazard to our boat motorists. These fishpen operators do not pay tax. So what kind of government do we have? Is this an invitation to chaos? Marami diyan ang nag-ba-violate ng navigational lane. Bakit hindi sila hulihin? We understand most of them are in the group of Brgy. Captain Lino Fernandez, the ABC president/city councilor. Ano ito, wala nang batas sa ciudad? Mayor Al, if you don’t watch out, this would be your political waterloo!

This corner received a fresh balita that the Philippine National Railways (PNR) is being asked to account for the missing railings or tracks while it allegedly sold them to the Carried Lumber at P2,000 per square meter, when the running cost is P4,000.

Unsolicited advice to the PR handler of congressional bet Celia Lim: replace your poster with a smiling and lovely photograph. Lasi met, Benjie, amayamay lay plugging kod asawam.
Painom ka!
