Pidong Bustria endorses Solo for congress
By Gonzalo Duque
GEORGIA, USA–WHAT’s that news item denying our report that Antonio “Solo” de Venecia Jr. is gunning for congress in the fourth district?
We could only say they are now denying the denial. Why not get it straight from Solo himself and Alex who was the first to deny the published news item?
Anyway, we have no business continuing with this kind of topic. Ours was only to ring the alarm bells to Manong Joe that beloved wife Gina’s running for congress is being met with some opposition from his own clan.
Solo’s congressional adventure is getting a lot of adherents even here in the USA. Sa totoo lang marami ang nag react sa column natin. Isa na rito si Elpidio Bustria, brother of Helen B. Bernardo, who told us he was all out for Solo’s candidacy. Pidong, by the way, is nephew of JdV’s staunch ally, former Concon Delegate Louie Catubig.
Huwag naman kayong magalit sa atin kung nagsasabi lang tayo ng totoo. Besides we want to do a good turn to Manong Joe before the reported family misunderstandings worsen. Mabuti na yong maagapan, ano po? There’s that Biblical verse, “a house divided against itself cannot stand.”
Our informants back home texted us about a silent exodus of De Venecia clan members being extra friendly with LTO chief Art Lomibao who is right now here in the US. We were supposed to meet today.
But we are in the East Coast, while Art is at the other side. Benjie Lim, who seems alerted by this report, is cutting his short in China to explore the political potential of this report.
As of this writing, Manny “Baby” Roy texted us Ope Reyna is also sharpening his spurs to take a crack at the 4th district congressional seat. Hmmm… this is getting interesting. With the increasing number of cooks in the congressional pot, malamang na mananalo na si Gina by a long mile. Kasi parami ng parami ang mga challengers… Nandyan pa si Atty. Julius Magno, president of the Association of Ilocanos International, who intimated his desire to run also “if Art is not in a fighting mood.”
You know, ours is a democracy, and we should all be delighted by this report. Right? Even our friend, Gina, should not be onion skinned as to frown on this item. Instead of firing a directive to Gypsy to put words in the mouths of Alex and Pocholo to deny our column item, she and Manong Joe should sit down with their kin and patch things up pronto and not allow Art run away with the prize congressional plum without sweating.
Paalala lang po. Tayo po’y kaibigan, dapat nga pasalamat sila sa abang lingkod before things get out of hand. Right, senatorial wannabe Joey de V? Hmmm…this is another story.

A lot of Filipinos are intrigued by former DPWH Sec. Jun Ebdane’s entry in the presidential derby.
Did you know that those thousands of billboards showing him with Ate Glow all over the Philippine Islands as late as the start of this year have already raised suspicions that he is Palasyo’s bet for president?
Naku ha, you haven’t seen the likes of it. Go to the Visayas and Mindanao, billboards of his photo with Ate Glow are located every 200 meters apart. So what’s that? Even small boys and girls have already memorized the names President Arroyo and Secretary Ubdane.
You see, Jun Ebdane should have been the last man to go into politics. A quiet and nonsensical worker, he has delivered the most number of infra projects all over the islands.
We tell you hindi biro ang pagkakandidato niyang ito. Watch out for him. He might spring a surprise.
