Think about it
Jun Ebdane is running for president?

OUR unpredictable weather should not be unpredictable after all. Why, because we all know that we are now in the grip of a global climate change… which means, anything unpredictable would happen to Mother Earth these days.
Come to think of it. We have brought this climate mess to our lives. How? We have abused our environment with impunity. The ozone layer, now bigger than the size of Australia and our atmospheric shield from the heat of the sun, has been so depleted many people either literally die from the heat wave or contract diseases on its account.
We remember then Speaker Joe de Venecia’s 1- billion-trees advocacy, which if implemented l0 years ago, would have made a dent in our fight against environmental degradation problem. Trees do not only cool the earth from the sun’s scorching heat, they also prevent floods, which have devastated many parts of the country.

As we close in on next year’s May elections, those tandems we thought earlier as candidates for president and vice president are undergoing deep changes.
First to go was Vice President Noli de Castro who has lost to Defense Secretary Gilbert Cojuangco- Teodoro in the administration party’s candidate for president equation.
Gibo is now ranged against first-cousin Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Cojuangco- Aquino in the opposition Liberal Party, who has likewise dethroned LP president Mar Roxas from the LP presidential bet contention.
Two or three more presidentiables from the opposition are still not out – Manny Villar and Chiz Escudero of the NPC, and the bull-headed Erap Estrada of the untamable opposition.
As we go to press, we heard that the Gibo endorsement may still go awry, what with administration insiders telling us that our friend from way back DPWH Sec. Jun Ebdane was being neatly groomed to lead the administration party. Scratch your head, but our source is unimpeachable. So, it’s happening what our neighbor columnist Gonzalo Duque raised as the specter of a presidential election that it would wear a local skin. If that be so, we couldn’t help rank Ebdane in the stellar role in the days to come.
Watch for it.

While poring on our computer, we got a call from San Francisco-based Dagupeños Jimmy Muñoz and Alfred Dawana – coordinators of a Noynoy-for-president movement out there – calling attention to the “Jurassic” habit of a few Dagupeños especially those living by the banks of Pantal River and its tributaries throwing their human waste into the river.
This is one reason, they said, why they were coming home to Al Fernandez’s political bastion to launch a “Clean Dagupan” movement citing the unflattering fecal problem. It’s admirable that the duo who would usually call us whenever they went into a recess in their casino-hopping do not forget to show their concern and care for the city of their love.
Or is Alfred angling for a seat in the city council? In the 70’s, Dawana, as president of the Dagupan association of barangay captains, was then Mayor Oping Manaois’ partner in the distribution of toilet bowls in the barangays. Ok, Councilor Dawana.
