Waste of time

By Jun Velasco

AFTER the Pacquiao-De La Hoya circus, we are forced back to our old not-so-funny permanent circus, politics, our politicos’ preoccupation with wrong governance dictated by selfish aggrandizement.

Do they really mean to change the constitution in a noble way? But their hands show that they want to extend the term of President Gloria Arroyo to, well, here’s the real thing, to extend themselves. What hide!

They want to show the constitutional change business is a walk in the park. Not so. A constitution is a serious document, and rewriting it is a tough and complicated job.

Maybe, our friend Jake Flores is right. It would be best that this charter change talk, which is resurrecting a dead issue, is stopped.

Maybe what the CC advocates want is while there is still time, and gumption, it’s better to lose face than be out of power.

FVR, Brother Mike and most of the senators have put their feet down on it, knowing Cha Cha is next to impossible at this late hour. If there’s some morsel of honor – if there’s such a thing – left in the guts of our politicians, they should junk it and be with their families for conscience cleansing and to save their souls.

There are rumors that PGMA will declare martial law to extend her rule. Well, we said it, charter talk is a waste of time.

We met last Friday two authorities on health and wellness and phenomenal inventions which should find their mark in the country’s economy — Engr. Glenn Castillo, 43, chairman of Core Group, and Dr. Christian Emmanuel Mancao, 60, whose pioneering discoveries and inventions should make a dent in the country’s economy.

Glenn is behind the famous EMC (Energized Mineral Concentrate – Alkaline- NT) which has saved or radically enhanced lives. He has to his name 500 extraordinary inventions. The world bows to his genius and works. Some of his inventions: a fuel saver gadget that substantially saves consumption cost in cars; fertilizer concoction derived from fruits that beats the common fertilizer by 30 percent in the number of harvest.

The other genius we met is Dr. Mancao, a UST-bred doctor of medicine whose discoveries in curing muscle pain in seconds has been praised worldwide. Our conversations have given us serious doubts about conventional medicine’s being supposedly a noble profession. We shall soon write about his earthshaking findings. One account he cited: doctors want people to be sick. He quoted a world authority that says in the US, the life expectancy of doctors is 58 years old, while an ordinary person is 76. One for Ripley? Nope, he has the record.

Engr. Romeo Rosario, president of the Dagupan City chapter of the Brotherhood Christian Businessmen and Professionals, texted that the Pangasinan winner, city hier Edelyn Aurelio, of the “Be Honest” oratorical contest was the other day winner in the regional contest held in Baguio City. She is now preparing for the Grand National contest in Manila in February. Congrats! It’s wrong to say that Congressman Joe de V met his political waterloo for fighting the administration. It should be the other way around. Once perceived as a trapo, he has now made a sharp turn-around, a commendable break from a group that is mired in corruption issues. His decision catapults him to the stars.
